Where can I file my tax return for free?

I just received my W2s. I never filed my taxes before in the US. But I have filed it many times in Canada for free using tax softwares This is my first time and I don't know how to file it in the US. I would like to file it for free. Can someone direct me?

If you make under about $64,000 per year, you can file for free under many websites. I believe you can also file with the IRS itself for free.

TaxAct is free. But it charges for state taxes.

IRS Free File

There are a couple of options on there. They have simple software you can use if your 2017 earnings were under $66,000. There are also free online fillable forms you can use if your income was over that, but they're a little more complex and you'll need to have your 2016 return available as a reference.

If your tax situation is complicated by some kinds of investments, or trust accounts and such, I think you have to go a more complicated route.
