There are plenty, plenty of Brits here.

I find UK people, usually, to be more modest than Americans. Less apt to "show themselves." This could give the impression that there are more Americans here than the actual quantity of Americans.

This is a worldwide Site. But it's primarily in the English language; I find that a person who doesn't speak English well has a distinct disadvantage here.

But there is no disadvantage in being a Brit--at all.

It's not because he's a Yank that Trump and US politics in general have dominated this Site. It's because Trump is so polarizing...and brings out the "political" in otherwise "apolitical" people.

It would interesting what reaction Neville Chamberlain's "appeasement" of Hitler would have been invoked in 2018 WrongPlanet. I would say that this would dominate this Forum, like Trump dominates this Forum. There really wasn't much that was polarizing about President Roosevelt. He was sort of like Winston Churchill; both were very good at appealing to the people through "fireside chats."

There's no question that Winston Churchill is one of the great men of English history.

I think the modesty is a case of the class system, historically we have outright been told to know our place now its we are still raised to know our place but its more nuanced.

There are also more classes these days too.
The divides getting wider all the time.

Lauri Love won his high court appeal to be tried here in the UK today.
I bet his family are over the moon.
This has been going on for a long time.
I can't imagine how this has effected his mental health.

He's starting a business in cybersecurity, he's quite knowledgeable on this subject according to the US Government.

Accents in the UK are said to be noticably different every 25 miles.

There is no requirement to disclose any medical information (e.g. diagnosis) to driving authorities unless it is reasonable to assume it impairs the ability to drive. There was a TV programme last year following 3 autistuc/aspergian learners.

I stand somewhat corrected. It appears, though, that there must be an diagnosis, and must also meet 2 additional criteria. If I'm misunderstanding, please post clarification.

There is an ample interest here in the U.S. regarding experiences with the Autism Spectrum in the UK.

For example, the work of Simon Baron Cohen at Cambridge University.

Many of the feature stories we've viewed in the U.S. on the PBS network, the CBS Network series '60 Minutes,' and several inspiring books on the experiences of savants on the Autism Spectrum took place in the UK.

The two listings below are UK professionals/advocates who boosted awareness of Aspergers worldwide.

Lorna Wing:

Uta Frith:

Personally, I've been told that I sometimes speak, write, act, and even eat in a custom like the English.

There are some here who speak and act as if they were born in the USA. I watched a TV program called ' The Undateables ' where people with physical or mental difficulties are matched by specialist agencies. There was a guy with aspergers who spoke with an american accent born here. It came from watching lots of US TV so he just picked it up.

It is a lovely show to watch and you can probably catch it on youtube.

Did anyone feel any movement from the earthquake in Swansea today around 2.30pm?

I thought I was imagining it and it was muscle spasms.

The last time I felt a quake my bed shook and it was high up in the midlands.
Not sure why I doubt myself when this happens.

I can't remember exactly but it was a fair few years ago.
It was also in the early hours of the morning perhaps 1 or 2 am?

One of my claims to fame is that I've slept through three earthquakes.
1. About 35 years ago when I lived on the borders of Wales.
2. 1984 in Sorrento... close to Vesuvius
3. About five years ago (ish?) here in West Yorkshire... I slept through the earthquake but was woken up by Mrs Trueno shrieking that the house was about to fall down.
