I love having my brain scanned, though I prefer MRI scanners. I never got a copy of the image. I wanted to frame it and hang it on my wall.

I've just been skimming through an anthology of Latin poetry, and am considering memorising some Horace or Catullus.

I had a dental CT scan, if you can believe it. I've had several CT / MRI scans of my brain and most of my body but this one was for the root of a tooth, which has been hard to x-ray. Weird, I know!

I didn't think you were memorising Horace. That would be quite the task!

Not the whole ensemble of Horace, obviously, but a single ode or epode at a time.

Interestingly, Alfred Tennyson did in fact perform the incredible feat of memorising all of Horace's Odes and Epodes, having to recite them frequently to his father whose pedagogical methods were worthy of James Mill.

Despite the fact that I am in tune with many of the Stoics' ideas, Prometheus is correct. I did not read Seneca in college.

Branwell Brontë memorised and translated the Odes for Hartley Coleridge, in his first attempts as a published author.

God, Latin poetry is so unrhymingly dull. Greek is no better. Poetry began with Dante.
