Most of us are going to be dead before the next century

Do you think it is crazy that you are more than likely going to be dead before the next century? We are in a year that begins with twenty and most of us are more than likely going to die in a year that begins with twenty. If you do make it to the next century you will be really old. If I'm still around in the year 2100 I will be 107. I doubt that I will still be around then but it's just crazy to think about. All of us will either be really old or dead by then. Even a baby who is born now will be in his or her eighties by then. It just goes to show you how short life really is on this planet.

I find that comforting, actually. Not in a dark way, just that I tend to get preoccupied by small things that don't really seem to bother most other people. When you put it in the perspective that we'll all be dead sooner or later, it makes it easier to let things slide.

In the year 2000, I was 17. (I'm guessing your were 6 going on 7 and too young to have thought about these things.) I distinctly remember thinking at the time, "Ah, this is the century, and the millennium, in which I'll die." Yes, I know technically speaking the year 2000 was still the 20th century.

But three of my four grandparents lived the entirety of their lives in years with 19xx. My great-grandparents were born in the later 18xxs and died in the 19xxs. Time is man-made anyway.

That's why I like to live my life to the fullest and have fun every day.

It doesn't bother me. Every day has been precious in its own way, but when it's done, it's done.

I really don't think that the world will still be around in the next century. At least not the world as we know it. They'll be too much nuclear fallout from nukes to really support much life. I'll be extremely lucky if I live a long life & don't die 1st cuz of nuclear missiles.

I think hitting the last century will hold more meaning for me. Y2K was quite an experience, despite itself.

Also, Im old.

All things are impermanent. All things die. Death isn't something separate or foreign; it is intrinsic to life itself.

In about 7.5 billion years, even the Earth will die.

One day, you too will die. All of the other days, you will not. Enjoy them.

It's best not to think too hard about mortality because you'll only send yourself mad.

One random little desire I have is to go into hibernation for several decades and then, once I wake up, go and buy some kind of encyclopedia or log on to Wikipedia or something and spend the following months reading up on everything that happened since I went into hibernation.

It's also weird to think that people born in the year 2000 or a little later are now old enough to have kids of their own, meaning there are already two generations born in 20xx years. (Especially considering that there are some people my age who had kids before the year 2000.)

It was still the 20th century when I was born, so I don't think it's all that strange I won't be around to see the 22nd century.

I don't really think about that. I'm too busy enjoying life.

So, i don't get to see civilization fall down due to climate problems changing the geopolitical balance north and a lack of global resources made worse by ever increasing overpopulation that possibly could trigger wars?
