You are scheduled to leave at 6 pm. Your replacement worker doesn't show up. What would you do?

Leave anyway. My shift is done; if my replacement worker is late then that's his problem.

I would do that in reality but, I want an answer base on what you would say in an interview

I'd stay until my replacement worker arrived.

I guess I'd check with the supervisor and see what s/he wanted me to do. Might want me to stay to cover, or might want me to go so as not to get into overtime hours.

In my mind I'm imagining leaving a store completely unattended which is why I would stay but now I realize that's not necessarily the case. I guess it's a question of whether you're willing to be a team player in as much as you are willing to stay until something can be arranged. I guess it all depends on the situation how long you stay. Telling them you'd leave gives them the impression you can't be relied on in a crisis.

I'd stay, and call the boss to get someone to come in.

I guess I wouldn't really leave; I'd wait for as long as I could until something could be worked out. I'm not that selfish.

Call it what you will, I see it as a matter of self preservation. I am known as absolutely reliable at my job, so at this point I have no one breathing down my neck. I like this.

Yeah you definitely stay and cover but call the person who would replace you to see what happened and then call the shift manager or whomever is in charge if you cant reach the replacement. It cant be the right answer to just take off.

If it's a job interview question, and you want the job, then you say you stay.

Do I respect my boss/collegues? Do I need the money? Do I enjoy the work?
If the answer is no to all 3 I'm gone.

I stay until management gets someone in to replace my replacement.

The business has to provide service to the client (or create product for the customer). If the business can't do that, then I don't have a job, so it's in my interest on a macro level to do more than the minimum at the micro level.

I'd stay and call management and figure out what to do. I wouldn't leave the place unattended.
