If you were given the choice between a degree in Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), with all tuition, fees and expenses pre-paid, and "no strings attached", which would you choose?

To add more data, here's a comparative listing of properties for both HASS and STEM:

HASS: Humanities, Arts, Social-Sciences
STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics

HASS: Humanities is the study of social history, interaction, and expression
STEM: Science is the study of physical phenomena and their operating principles

HASS: Less collaborative
STEM: More collaborative

HASS: Receives less public funding
STEM: Receives more public funding

HASS: Less reliance on mathematical models
STEM: More reliance on mathematical models

HASS: Embraces the concepts of religion and spirituality
STEM: Rejects or is indifferent to the concepts of religion and spirituality

HASS: Derive truth by inspiration from revelation
STEM: Derive truth by induction from observation

HASS: Sees science as lacking humanity
STEM: Sees humanities as lacking discipline

HASS: Human consciousness is the ultimate container, with the world existing inside it.
STEM: The world is the ultimate reality, with human consciousness existing inside it.

HASS: From revelation flows the study of the soul
STEM: From observation flows the study of the world

HASS: Investigates difficult ideas in the pursuit of ethical futures
STEM: Investigates physical principles in the persuit of greater knowledge

HASS: Taught as discrete subjects
STEM: Taught as inter-dependent subjects

You may choose only one option in the poll, but you can alter your choice at any time.

Thank you.

I had a lucrative and successful career with HASS degrees.
I have Uni credits in Calculus, Stats, and Deductive Logic, but they weren't needed in my work.

I focused on engineering coursework, and did okay in the non-engineering core classes.

My favorite non-engineering classes involved music and music theory.

I've worked in STEM for 9 years now as a software geek.

I'm considering basically anything else unless pay & conditions improve.

A mixture of both, dominated by STEM.

Both are interesting but STEM has a beautiful rule of falsifiability, so I didn't need to memorize countless authorities whose claims turned out wrong or irrelevant.

I study Digital Media Production in University.

So it could be argued that it is S T E M because it falls under the technology category, but the topic is also an art, making it H A S S. Our department is partly connected with STEM, but if I graduate then I'll be a Bachelor Of The Arts.

This has lead to conversations such as;

"What exactly do you do?"

"Oh, well I make short films"

"So, you're a film student?"

"In a way yes, but I also design and code websites plus make mobile apps"

"Wait, so you're a STEM student?"

"Kind of. I'm also a graphic designer, I make logos and run social media accounts. Photography sometimes. Oh, I make 3D models and info-graphics".

"So, an art student?"

"Yes, but more so commercially, I'm also kind of an IT student since I work with coding programs but I'm shunned by programmers because I only know basic object-orientated languages. However, I also get shunned by certain art students since they don't believe that what I do is truly art".

"Hmm. What are you then?"

"Tired, mostly".

I briefly considered going down the English route before going into Digital Media Production. A teacher offered to write a letter of recommendation for me for an English course, and tried to convince me to enter into a national slam poetry competition. Unfortunately I was ill during the application process for the slam poetry event. I decided not to apply for the English degree since I already had a guaranteed place in University.

However, it worked out in the end. I get to write stories in the form of scripts these days. Plus, I get to study other topics that I'm interested in. :)

...Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to brand myself and find work. *Laughs nervously*

Both and not just a mixture of.
Let's just say because my life long special interest can extend at both.

But if there's no 3rd option here; I'd go for either yet I'd incline to pick STEM. I'll figure the other myself.

STEM even though I'm bad with technology and terrible at math. I have a degree in biology, one of the less math-heavy sciences.

I think I'd s#ck at both due to my learning disorders & Aspergers. I always had ZERO desire to pursue higher education.

Obviously, STEM is more practical. But I just like HASS better. I'm lucky I have a steady civil service job. I guess, if I were a young kid, I might consider a STEM sort of degree.

When I started college, I was going to go for an accounting degree----but I quickly switched over to Speech Pathology and English.

My college major is Computer Science (STEM) and I'm also studying Cybersecurity as well and I've been loving that a lot. However, I took some psychology electives because I find it interesting too and a drawing class for my art credits and loved them. Computers and technology were always the things I loved the most though and I wanted to learn everything I could about them and finally got to pursue them in college as there weren't a lot of opportunities for me in high school.

HASS teaches us what to do with STEM.
