Some reports said that with the humidex, it’ll feel like 43C, which is 109.4F.

Records will fall.

So an actual high of 35 C? That is 95 F.

Around here, that's a warm day. A year ago, I had to go to the city to pick up some parts and it was 106 F that day.

111 here too. Lot of people in Oregon do not have AC and only 1/3 of us do and 70% of people here in Portland have no AC. Portland has uplifted the covid ban and got rid of social distancing because they want people to stay cool and even Trimet got rid of the distancing rule but still require masks. Public libraries are reopening as cooling centers. Some places are closing for the week because of high temperatures due to no AC. They don't want their workers to roast in the kitchen and get a heat stroke. Food carts are closing because it gets hot inside due to the medal. Some small businesses are closing because of the heat and they have no AC.

My daughter is out in the hot tub where the water is actually cold and she has been in there most of the time today and 74 degrees feels cool inside when this is our normal inside temperature in the winter.

Thermometers were reading 39C at home today - still 37-39C across the suburb city I live in. Probably higher midday.

We had a thermometer hit 40C in the parking lot of my friends building yesterday.

Around here these are extremely high temperatures. We do get 40C every Summer in some desert areas of Southern BC ~5 hour drive East, but it’s not normal here.

it is SO HOT.. ppl gonna work from home tmw who have no a/c in their offices.. also to make sure their pets don't die. Literally. And some demolition workers are gonna start at like 5am and then leave as soon as it gets too hot.

Several pets died across the Province yesterday.. so far no humans that I know of, but I'll legit be surprised of Zero homeless people or seniors die over the next few days - especially tomorrow.

It's 10:22 pm and we just got in from riding motorcycles for the last 2 1/2 hours. It's basically Just Now cooling off to comfortable riding temperature. It's HOT out there.

Some roads are melting - I had black tar on the bottom of my shoes yesterday.

My friend's 5yo son threw a water balloon at their car (Ford Escape) - it hit the driver's side headlight.. and spider-web cracked it over a palm sized area or so.

Portable A/C has been going at home on the main floor since yesterday.. but it's not very cool in here. It's only cool if we head downstairs to the basement. I'll probably either sleep on a recliner on the main floor or maybe go downstairs to the basement.. hmm, I think. Unless I wander upstairs and it's tolerable - I dunno.. it's smokin' hot. Not very many houses here have built in A/C because it doesn't get that hot here very often - maybe really hot for a week or two in the Summer, that's about it.. but if this is going to hit every year I can see a lot more homes getting systems retrofitted - ideally heat pumps since they're a lot more energy efficient. No wonder HVAC is such a highly paid trade here - tops of the main trades on construction sites. Only refrigeration mechanics and elevator mechanics earn more.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but in my mom's native land, it's summer every single day.

Most places in Central or South America don't reach 45 Celsius.

There are places in BC with an over 50 Celsius Humidex right now.

But I believe the heatwave will break in the coastal regions in a couple of days. But it'll hang around in Kamloops for a while.

Yeah.. it's hot Hot HOT H O T.

I slept about 1.5 hours last night. Mushy brain means I wasn't going to accomplish much in the way of reading/thinking/typing, so I've mostly been pulling nails out of lumber in the shade indoors today.

Almost beer o'clock, too.. as soon as my friend gets back from the bank. 8)
