Can't they just turn their body round instead?

Of course, this can be done. The issue is that the special turntable they need has to be fixed to the floor. Due to budget cuts local authorities do not have the money to fit enough turntables.

At the current moment in time there is a legal challenge going through the court system claiming it is a human right.

Because situational awareness is easier when the head and body can face in different directions and according to that thread the homeless are armed with poop and ready to throw it.

It means 'maintain situational awareness', similar to 'check your six' or 'keep your eyes peeled' or 'keep an eye out for...'.

Ah. Ok. You have also answered another thing I did not know. The meaning of "Check your six".

And yes. When I was younger I put my eye on the ball when someone said to keep an eye on the ball as we were playing football.

I did swivel my head, sometimes with my torso on regular basis.

Whenever I do it, my neck cracks. Sometimes along with my lower spine. And it felt good.

So my answer is simply yes, why not?

And actually do it when trying to look at someone behind me at night only for someone to cringe at the sound -- of course it's intentional.

Make sure your head is ok because I would hate to hear that your head has fallen off or something. We already have one casualty from this site who has back issues so can't message at the moment. Stay safe. :)

I've always been a nerd for fighter planes. They'll use an imaginary clock face to tell where something is in relation to themselves, 12 o'clock is dead ahead, so your 6 is your tail.

My Mum does that when I am driving. It confuses me. I want a simple "Left, right, 'No other left', straight on" etc.

9:00 is dead left, 3:00 dead right.
We use it to tell where the po po is when driving.

I prefer my directions to sound more like '...easy left into medium right, over crest, caution - don't cut, flat right, brake hard into hairpin left, caution - approaching bridge, square left - caution gravel...'
