Unfortunately this burglar probably only got a short prison stay and when released almost certainly returned to this.

The burglar's "misfortune" is deserved and funny but...um...is there a Fire Code violation?

Could someone legitimately in there have been trapped during a fire?

I would have just left that broom closet unlocked so the thief wouldn't damage the door trying to kick it in.
