Cat food has pictures of cats on it and dog food has pictures of dogs...

Why doesn't human food have pictures of humans on the packets or tins?

Discrimination?

Funny that you mention that.

Grandma bought me a subscription to Reader's Digest back when I was a teen years ago.

It had humor and annectdote sections for readers to submit stories to.

Decades later I still remember the story submitted by that lady who was the wife of a missionary to a tribe in New Guinea. They lived on canned goods shipped in. The locals couldnt read but got the idea that you could know what food was contained in a can by looking at the picture on the can. Beans, tuna, spam, veggies, tomatoes. Its what depicted on the can.

By the way...only a generation before the locals didnt eat canned goods because....they were cannibals.

So "when I got pregnant you can guess what the natives thought our diet was when we started getting shipments of baby food which was always in cans stamped with pictures of healthy, happy, babies".

Trivia question!

At least one food item had the picture of a certain man on the package.

A man who is now a woman! :D

Name the food, and the man who is now a woman.

Bingo!

Wheaties is famous for putting sports figures on the box. Like cats on cat food cans.

Yeah- if you were a sports fan in the Seventies you wouldnt be able to imagine a world in which Bruce Jenner is a lady, and in which O.J. Simpson would be a murderer, and a family connected to both would have its no talent members' daily lives become entertainment fodder on a TV series.

We sometimes get people from places in the Far East staying here and they can't read the cans so they look at the pictures, and they think the cans contain dog meat and cat meat as in some places they eat cats and dogs so to them they assume it is going to taste like cat or dog but it doesn't, and then they aske what type of meat it is.

1. In case some people don't know what a cat or a dog looks like.

2. Some people food does have pictures of people on.

3. Humans come first, animals come second, so humans are the most dominant creatures on this planet.

I remember a story some years ago about people from some foreign nations being confused by pet food... they were used to the picture on the tin showing what was inside...

Is frosted flakes made out of cartoon tigers? If not does it make you better at sports?
