Why don’t females adopt the males’ children as often as males adopt the females’ children?

I have a friend who's adopted and he's very happy to be alive. As for the question, I don't have an answer.

Okay. Why won't women adopts the stepchildren as much as fathers?

it might be that women just don't like the males children as much as the males like the females children.

I didn't know it was a thing to be honest so I haven't given it any thought until now.

My guess? Absentee fathers. It's more common for men to vanish on their children than it is for women. If more moms went mia, I'd guess there would be more women adopting their step children. It's easier to adopt a child when their parent is dead or abandoned the child. I know nothing of statistics here. I'm just some random person on a laptop making a guess here.
