why does it feel like only *I* am not allowed to be happy. No matter where I turn, there is a circumstance there to push me back

When people tell you they are coming by and then don’t show up.What is that!?
Jesus, call and say you can’t make it but don’t leave people in limbo waiting.
I don’t understand that at all and it pisses me off badly. Now they better not show up.I ate most of the food anyway and gave the rest to the dogs.

It holds one's attention.

but so does good classical and jazz.

Good jazz and good classical are also loud and raucous. :nerdy:

Some of it is.

And thats what... I... "dont get" how folks talk about a genre of music as if everything in that genre is the same. "Classical is this". "Rock is that". Many subgenres of classical have more in common with subgenres of rock than with other classical. And vice versa.

For example If you like heavy metal than you would probably like Wagner. Not just for the big dramatic sounds, but his operas are full of spectacle. Much like a metal concert. Led Zeppilin, and much heavy metal draws lyrics from Tolkien, and Tolkien took his stories from much of the same north European Pagan mythology as Wagner's operas were taken from.

I don't get why when I was a kid & teen people believed I was too stupid to understand what they were talking about or have anything of value to contribute in conversations or anything else. But when they thought I had done something wrong they believed I was smart enough to know better & deserved to be punished. It should NOT be both ways. If I am too stupid for others to bother hearing & considering what I'm trying to say, then I should also be too stupid to understand my actions when they are wrong & punishing me will not teach me to stop. If I am smart enough to understand my own actions enough that punishing me might alter my bad behavior, I'mam also smart enough that my input should be considered.

It really is about the music and lyrics for us music fans.

And the voice, of course!

Things I don't get at all:

Fashion. I wear clothes to keep warm/cool. That's it. How do I 'express my personality' through clothes?? What even is that?
Same goes for jewellery, make up and hairstyles. I rarely wear jewellery or make up, what's the point of it? I like my hair to look neat, I don't 'express my personality' with my hair. WTF.

Music. It's just annoying noise. Why do I have to like certain types of music? Or like music at all? It's not compulsory to like all that noise.

Alcohol. Why do I have to drink it? It's disgusting and one glass makes me feel ill.

What I like are words, stories, editing.

why is there so much incredible art and stories and experiences- so much that I will never be able to see it all, and never be able to be changed by it?

People who put others down because of their own insecurities.
