I disagree with the way he ruthlessly fires employees. In my view a company should be a supportive team effort, and firing people impulsively is cruel and unnecessary. I would never like him as a person for this reason alone.

That's a good point, LittleBeach!

He does seem to be a ruthless kind of person. I'm not a fan of him either.

If he were Russian, I would probably hate him too. Someone like Elon Musk could be a lot worse if he grew up in an authoritarian culture. He could have developed a much more sinister world view than he already has. He could be an evil genius.
I've heard he's been making social media posts in support of Russia. He may not be Russian but supporting Russia seems like a bad sign if you dislike Russian authoritarians.

The “futuristic” design and sci fi optimism of SpaceX, Starlink and the other projects are what I like most about the man. That said, his either arrogant lying/incompetence to not recognise we can’t sustain them is the reason I don’t like him.

And really, if he knows every component in a Tesla, he’s probably not incompetent.

Elon Musk would make the perfect James Bond villian! Remember Gold Finger? He wanted to be the richest man in the world. And how about Diamonds Are Forever? The villian had built a secret space station. There are probably other comparisons but I can't think of any right now.

Because he's an ableist peon and a transphobic prick.

I try to leave hate outside my fence.
I do, however, resent anyone with that much money being so unhappily nasty.
Using immense wealth to steer politics I also find objectionably undemocratic.

If you want to admire someone filthy rich try Richard Branson.
He knows how to smile and treat his employees.

I like that he doesn't give a rat's arse what anyone thinks.
I like that he fails frequently and has ridiculous ideas.
I like his stories about his kids, especially the uber autistic one.

There are successful people who are better to strive to be like.

musk is NOT one of those people IMHO. the ones who ARE better are mostly unsung in anonymity in mundane life. the selfless types who are into helping people instead of being into self-aggrandizement.
