bark and meow are examples of onomatopoeic words that imitate the natural sounds of earth. but each culture hears these sounds slightly differently, leading to different onomatopoeic expressions, e.g., the japanese say dogs go "won-won" and that cats go "nyongo." no barking or meowing over there.

there is a computer program, an expen$$$$ive one [$5000] called Celemony Capstan, which is capable of taking analog audio recordings with tape stretch damage that have excessive pitch waver and straighten out the pitch making it sound rock solid.
