i wonder whether i could eventually come into a lot of money by suing the police for harassing me.
today was quite cold (9 degrees celsius), and there were gale force winds gusting to 105 kmh in my area.
i went to a takeaway food shop and purchased a 1/4 chicken (wing section), and they put it into a foil lined bag, and i intended to eat it when i got home. when i exited the takeaway shop with the chicken, there was an inordinately strong and sustained gust blowing against the direction in which i was walking back to my car, so i held the chicken behind my back so as to minimize the heat loss from the cold wind blowing past it if i held it normally by my side.
it is an unusual sight to see someone carrying something with a hand behind their back, and as a police car was driving out of the parking lot (in the upwind direction) they became instantaneously curious as to what i was trying to "conceal". they stopped and asked me what i was hiding behind my back.
i said i was not "hiding" anything behind my back, but i failed to reveal what was behind my back because i was shielding it from the wind with my torso. they got out of their car and approached me and one walked behind me and retrieved the bag with the chicken in it, and he inspected it and asked me why i had not admitted that i was hiding something behind my back, especially as it was innocuous.
i said that it was because i was not hiding it, but i was protecting it from the wind, and they got back in their car and left and i got into mine and i went home.
i was mildly disgruntled for about an hour, and during that time i hatched this idea:
balaclavas are not a banned garment. like motorcycle helmets, they can not be worn whilst in a bank or a gas station or airports etc, but there is no law against wearing either a motorcycle helmet or a balaclava when going about normal daily life.
people strongly associate balaclavas with criminals, even though they are really a cold weather garment.
so if i decided to ride the train to sydney (15 stops) with a balaclava on my head, i am certain that within a few minutes, the carriage that i was in would be cleared of other people, and within 2 train stations, police would enter my carriage and "sieze" control of me.
if i could have them somehow assault me because i resisted removing my balaclava because there is no law against wearing balaclavas, then i could raid their tills.
there is also no law against wearing womens stockings over ones head if one is going peacefully about one's progress throughout their day.
but i do not think one could get away with it for long.
if only i had 2 lives and did not care much about one of them, then i could try out every whim that is born in my imagination with the life i care less about.
