There aren't really that much exceptions a/o bizarre rules if one compares the English language with for instance the French, the German and the Dutch language. For me French is the most difficult one to get a grip on because it's quite different due to the fact it's a Roman based language. German has quite a few similarities with Dutch but it has for instance 3 articles, (without 'a and an' here) 'Der, das and die', for masculine, feminine and neutral. Dutch has two ~de and het, English one ~ the. I think the English is qua grammar the most logical of these three German based languages also.
Oh, an other thing what wonders me sometimes is that the English has different pronunciations while using the same vowel. I understand the use but the 'i, e and a' can be quite different pronunciation wise. French has this even more so but with the Spanish language and the Dutch one speak exactly all the letters there. No swallowing the end of a word, not pronouncing it. Blah (3x).

This is actually going on at the moment, I think but what do you think about the idea that all humans around the globe should learn English, next to there native language of course, so we could all communicate better and solve things better this way? (other advantages as well)
