I miss my grandpa coming down to visit from Illinois every summer. I was his favorite and he made no bones about it.

I don't miss being everyone elses "less than tolerable."

They all hated my grandpa as much as they did me. My grandpa said they were "just jealous," I never knew of WHAT, but I believed him.

I miss having friends, having a life, and having adults around to take care of everything.

I DON'T miss being picked-on, being made fun of, and fighting with my sisters (but, at least my sisters were in my life).

I miss how a couple of trees would seem like a forest.

I miss how everything was a great adventure.

I miss trading cigarettes for dinner tickets. And I miss how the teachers would make a big deal over this.

I miss getting up early, and going out all day long without even having anything to eat or having a wash.

I miss the "smokers corner" at school.

I miss my dad. :)

------

I don't miss: Social workers, getting arrested, police cells, court. Secure units, childrens homes, sleeping rough, running away.

I don't miss: Fighting, surviving, starving, freezing, no clean clothes, feeling humiliated.

I don't miss: Being covered in bruises, crying and not being heard, being treated like a slave.

I don't miss having no rights.

I don't miss being a child, I still am a child. :D

I miss when life was more serene and pastoral as well, certain persons were still alive too.
Also, I miss the cartoons of that time period which were fun..

I miss the creativity that I had before the fall, I'm still slowly trying to nurse it back into existence. I've had "writers block" for years now.
I don't miss living in fear

I miss everything about where I first lived before moving when I was 10.
My friends, my house, horses, swimming, my best piano teacher ever, my church family.
I was accepted the way I was, and teasing was not mean.
Everything was simple and beautiful and romantic (in a way that a kid of under 10 can understand.)

After the move, everything was different.
I don't miss the harsh teasing, the cliques in school, having to give up swimming and horses, etc.
I was no longer accepted the way I was.
I awoke to the harsh reality of the real world.

The only thing I miss about the new place is the rock in the woods on my parents' property where I used to go. There isn't even a path to it anymore. It is all overgrown.

Great thread! :D

I miss being able to play with toys without feeling silly. I also miss a lot of my toys.

What I don't miss is being prone to vomiting bugs. Most children pick them up to build up an immunity, and I think I built up an immunity to them when I was about 8, probably earlier than other children.
Also I don't miss having loose teeth either.

I miss hearing a lot of good songs on the radio that don't get requested anymore.

I don't miss being afraid to speak up, because my strictly Canadian family hated my accent.

I miss Legos
I don't miss those long summers where I basically existed in isolation, ironically playing with legos in my room

I miss when it was worth it to get up at dawn on Saturday mornings and watch cartoons.
I miss going swimming in the summer and loving every second I was in the water.
I miss taking my small dolls or play figures out in the woods or the beach and playing with them.
I miss the stores at the mall that had cool toys and other things but have closed down years ago.
I miss how much fun it was on Christmas night to go have supper at my grandparent's house, take a couple of toys I'd gotten, and my cousins would bring their toys and we'd play with them together.
I miss being able to spend hours being entertained just by my drawing cartoons.
I miss how much fun I'd have in the winter going sledding or making snowmen on playing around on the frozen pond.
I miss trick-or-treating on Halloween.
I miss being allowed to carry a doll or stuffed animal around with me.

I don't miss school.
I don't miss getting up early to go to school.
I don't miss all the times I had to go and get ear tubes put in, which must have been every couple of months, and then getting several surgeries for a mastoid infection when I was a teenager.
I don't miss doing math in school.
I don't miss my mother constantly nagging me to go outside and play especially when it was freezing and there nothing to do outside.
I don't miss my mother making me go on diets to lose weight.
I don't miss my mother telling me I'd have a heart attack or I'd look awful in a bathing suit if I didn't lose weight.
I don't miss being slapped, smacked, or spanked.
I don't miss my mother yelling at me for crying unless it was because I got hurt.
I don't miss my mother telling me I was too old for dolls and stuffed animals.
I don't miss homework.
I don't miss being bullied.

And I REALLY don't miss letting the pizza crust I had in the oven get burned while typing all of this! :x
