I tried the little quote icon. It looked like I was suppose to press the quote icon, then enter the text and then press the quote icon again to close. But when I posted, it didn't enclose the quote in a box. The text looked exactly like it does when you put the arrow on the quote icon, and there was no cool box enclosing it. In fact, after the text and end quote, it said, "Quote:" It looked really bad. Can someone please walk me thru this? Thanks!

I don't know how much more simple it can get.

See, it's not working for me. I opened the post, read your post, pressed 'post reply' and a box pops up with an assortment of icons on top. So, now I'm going to press the quote icon,
this is what came up. No cool box.

You must press the quote button a second time to enclose the text

Use the tags:

Quote:
bleg

or for more specific:

Ok, this time I pressed the white quote button that is on the previous person's post. Then I got this text and I pressed this quote button (that looks like a Z) twice. Let's see what happens!

Close!

Putting a space in the code - [ quote] - breaks the link... now, eliminate the spaces and the parentheses:

[ quote="name" ] text
:) Should be easy! Tool around with it in the preview mode to see if you break links before you post.

just examine the code that pops up in your post window and try to understand what it means. That should help you.

Stick with it; I had a hard time doing hex triplets to change font colors... I learned these things after a while because I am coadmin to another forum and I like Tyrian red for some reason. XD

if you're quoting just one person, you can always just click the 'quote' button on the post you want to quote.
no code needed. just delete the text you don't want.
