I don't understand how it's a true pain. Ivysaur is part grass, part poison.

Leech life is super effective on Ivysaur, and vine whip is not very effective on zubat.

I have to use tackle. =_=

Leech Life is a BUG-type move. It's super effective against both grass-type and poison-type.

Actually, Leech Life is not very effective against Poison type so it should do average damage to Ivysaur.

Go back to Route 3 and train there until you're strong enough. Or train your other Pokémon so they can deal with the Zubats. And don't forget to catch one.

Ugh, I HATE Mt. Moon! I like catching Clefairys there, though.

I really should've re-thought my team... it's a strange one, but I always train the same ones every game (dugtrio..)

i'm gonna go for venusaur, jolteon, marowak, golduck, and rapidash this time..

but by time i get the 2nd pokemon venusaur is like lvl 40 :(

Are you playing the original game or the remake. The trick with all Pokémon games is to raise your team evenly.

I played through the whole game of Pokémon Red Version using Blastoise and Bubblebeam for 70% of battles. Blastoise was at level 73 by the time I beat the game. I think.

Yes, but what if your only strong Pokémon dies. Nowadays I always raise even teams. My Pearl team I caught all on Pearl, and they're Lv75 to Lv87.
