The Matrix was awesome! The sequels were a bit of a letdown, though.

i have to admit the only thing interested me in the matrix was all the leather and latex clothing... id like that haha, id probably have a hard time rubbing my head with my arm, i love soft rubbery things.

There were quite a few movies on the "reality is an illusion" theme coming out about the same time. Dark City, Abre los ojos, The Truman Show, The Thirteenth Floor, eXistenZ...
