I understand a lot of people like to use their phone while on the toilet.
I don't get it, toileting takes about 2-10 minutes max, I don't understand how anyone can do something worthwhile on the phone in that time unless you have IBS then I understand toileting may take longer.

Have you used a cellphone on the toilet?
What do you do on the cellphone on the toilet?

No, I don't do that.

Not only for the reason of time you mention (it isn't worth it for me to have my attention on a screen even whilst on the toilet), but also because of the hygiene aspect.

Why would anyone bring a phone that can retain bacteria and such on its screen - into a bathroom? I find that kinda gross.

I used to have a big hang-up over this, but eventually I realized as long as you don't touch the phone until after you've washed your hands it's not really an issue.

I think if you bring your phone you should also wipe it down with alcohol before leaving (just to be safe).

It's a widespread practice, apparently:

https://www.techrepublic.com/article/yu ... ir-mouths/

I don't know how it leads to so many phones getting contaminated with fecal bacteria though. I'd have thought that only the hand that wiped the butt was at much risk of picking up those germs, so wouldn't it be common sense for most people to only touch the phone with their other hand while they were between wiping and hand-washing? Even if they didn't, how many layers of toilet paper do you need to form an effective barrier between the faeces and the fingers?

Anyway, I don't carry a mobile phone very often (I don't currently have one at all), and even when I did, I avoided dumping in public toilets (the trick is to do it in the morning before going out), and even in private ones I felt no need to take a phone to the bathroom and use it. I'd be too busy. 10 minutes seems a very long time to take a dump unless there's a medical condition.

Ah, this may explain the results:

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 080531.htm

They seem to think the contamination comes from people not washing their hands, rather than from people using their phones while on the toilet.

^ So, it's not just Wonder Woman who does that?

I do if I am expecting a call; otherwise no, I don't initiate a call from the bathroom.

The report mentions people not washing their hands "properly". I really hope it's just a case of not being thorough enough, and not a case of 1 in 6 adults do not wash their hands after going number 2.

I am not proud of it but I have done this. My phone controls my brain and I can't wait a second even though most of what I get is not at all important.

I do this sometimes but I'm just checking my texts or email. I also occasionally watch adult type vids on my phone while sitting there if my girlfriend is asleep in the bedroom but those times I go in the bathroom specifically for that purpose.

There's an app that you can put on your iPhone called iPoop. You can play funny games while you're on the toilet.

My biggest worry is, no matter how low the risk, a device that connects to the internet is hackable and these have cameras.

Seriously?

I'm never on the bog for anywhere near 2 minutes. I can be in and out and sat back down watching telly in about 45 to 60 seconds depending on whether I wash my hands or not

Plus if you're a guy you could only really play with your phone on the kharsie if you're having a "sit down"

I'm not worried about germs. I sometimes bring open soda cans in the bathroom when going from the living-room to the bedroom or vice-versa. Since the bathroom is next to the bedroom I make pitstops between the living-room & bedroom & I sometimes carry soda cans with me. About the only time I ever get very sick is when I have sinus infections. The three jobs I had were cleaning related includimg cleaning bathrooms sometimes & the one time I was sick was with a sinuns infection.
