Dunno.
But I do tend to relate a little bit to most (if not all) of the characters.

Spongebob is too... spunky to be an aspie.

Patrik on the other hand... he could be an aspie...

I thought they might be add or something, they dont seem overly shy or have problems with things like comunication, eye contact and over simulation. But they do have speceal interests, one stares into space a lot and the other can be very focused on tasks.

I think Spongebob is a sort of Aspie, but different people relate to different characters...

Can't say I've noticed

besides, the only times I ever seem to watch Spongebob Squarepants is when I'm at my mother's place, my family seem to like that particular cartoon, heh

NT's created those characters, they were not modelled (their personalities given) to express a real type of person, they might make characters with an extreme that LOOKS like aspergers, but funnily enough most "speculated" aspie characters tend to have an extreme which is the opposite to what a REAL aspie is (in pattern/structure/image)

the closest imaginary character i know and believe to have aspergers is Chief Inspector Jauc Clouseau, from the original Pink Panther movies, he is terribly clumsy, stupid to the eye, but "coincidentally" smart enough to be a good detective overall, also the enemy of Clouseau is a fellow Inspector who reminds me of an NT, he hates Clouseau because of his clumsyness and goes insane trying to figure out why he is soo lucky, the fact is despite his slip ups, he is very smart

At risk of sounding politically-incorrect, Spongebob seems borderline ret*d, not AS.

I always thought he was a little bit. The episode that stands out is the one where he has the giant wig and doesn't realize everyone's making fun of him.

He's a lot like my dx'd little brother.

Yeah, I've always just seen SpongeBob as ret*d, not strange due to autism or Asperger syndrome or anything else similar.
