His autobiography is a good read.

it explains he had an alchoholic abusive father, and his brother Ronnie, is a heroine addict.

Ramsay has had it tough,

And the reason he is so obnoxious and rude, is because he cant stand Chef's that dont follow the basics of running a resturant, He goes on to say in his book, that most chef's try and match the picture in the book, and the recipe ends up stuffed up.

I think he swears a lot because he is sick of some resturants caring more about making a buck than the customer's happiness.


Anyhow, i still love him besides all this, and i call him the culinary king.

Keep at it Gordon, you rock!

I watch his 1 hour swear-athon now and then

food just flys in every direction

Yes have seen some backstage/private stuff, nice guy it looks like,
just have some temper in him.

And when he is with his mother, a fluffy kitten of a man
not one bad word comes out then, not even anything close
to it i think

I used to think he was a nutjob, until i started to watch kitchen nightmares. I am a foodservice worker for life and he is just realllly committed to his work. He does have a terrible temper. I would llove to learn some of the awesome things he teaches restauranteurs to do. Who else is going to teach you to make homemade mozzarella cheese as a signature dish for your restaurant? He makes a person really responsible for what they are cooking.

I used to hate Gordon Ramsay until I discovered he was born only 1 mile from where I live,
in the town of Johnstone which prompted me to read more about him.Since then I've
concluded that he's not so bad underneath all the bluster.

I think, nay, believe that Gordon Ramsay wants his pupils to succeed, that's why I like him. I've seen him give little pep talks and say short comforting things to the chefs that are losing it if he thinks they've really got it. He's the best! What an amazing boot camp to go to if you had the chance to attend Hell's Kitchen, could you imagine what you'd be prepared for after you left the show? You could withstand anything.

It wouldn't shock me if his aggrivated personality was exaggerated a bit to enhance the appeal of his show.

Well as far as i know Hells Kitchen usa pays him more to get extra agro.

I own a restaurant and tempers can flare easily.
My husband works in a factory and told me the language in the kitchen is worst than where he works.
I have a great staff tho and when things do get out of control generally you will also see various staff people out back talking it out, hugging and appologizing.

One of my staff coined a phrase for us -- " we might swear at you but we won't spit in your food"
