I myself have long thick hair (I have inherited my dads hair). Thier is no baldness at all on my dads side of the family the only problem is my mums farther is bald already (he is almost 80). Bearing in mind though my mums farther is the only person on my mums side to have gone bald and he already started loosing his hair when he was 18 and I am 19 and have thick long hair down to my shoulders. I just need some of your views on this. My dads grandfarther as well (mums side) started going bald but my dad is 50 and has loads of thick hair also.

On a side note my younger brother has got very bushey hair different to mine, kind of wirey hair but I don't think he will go bald?

I would appreciate some answers to this question!

Well it's difficult to predict.

Do you have a particularly hairy chest?

Do you exercise a lot?

Do you go out in the sun without a hat much?

Do you exercise while or shortly before going out in the sun without a hat?

I heard it was to do with your maternal grandmother.

If your grandmother's brothers on your mothers side are not bald, then you will not go bald.
Also I'd doubt that you would go bauld if there is only one relation that has gone bald.

Coarse, thick body hair is associated with high testosterone levels, and high testosterone levels are associated with an increased likelihood of premature of 'male-pattern baldness'.

Okay... there is a possibility if your dad is balding, and your mom is balding, or her dad is balding.
Use this chart.

My mum has got a bald patch becuase she developed female alopecia 4 years ago through work related stress, but alot of her hair that she lost then has grown back now. My mums hair is also a lot thinner than me and my dads. Basicly my mum has different type hair to me and my farther.

I need to stress again that my mums farther was loosing his hair when he was younger than me at 18. (My grandfarther used to have curly ginger afro like hair and I have long thick light brown straight hair down to my shoulders). I have got loads of thick hair like my dads. To put it simply I follow my dads side of family in terms of hairline, not my mums side of the family.

My grandmothers brother also has loads of thick hair even in his 80's.
