today I learned that:
1) whatever you plan to do, there's always someone who has already done this;
2) our wishes never come true until we find anyone to support our desire for the wishes to come true...
rather sad, isn't it?..

Today was my third therapy session for Asperger's issues I have in wanting to be a better father for my two sons. I am trying to learn how to become involved in their interests and participate with them in some typical father/son activities. Asperger's has made it difficult for me to socialize properly. Today I learned from my therapist some ways to help me do that. I also learned a way to be able to effectively communicate my feelings to my family. Since I do feel plenty of emotions, but have trouble sharing those feelings, I have learned that I can be like an actor and act out sentences to express how I am feeling inside. My therapist explained this much better than I am explaining it now on this post, but it is a technique that I think I can do. When he told me about this technique of being like an actor to express the emotions of things like love and happiness, I was thinking that it would be a lie to do this. But then I realized, it isn't a lie at all. If I am actually feeling those emotions, the acting will allow me to bring those emotions out. He had me try it a couple times during the session (my family also attended the session today) and at first it was difficult, but by the second time it felt easier.

I have only recently been diagnosed with Asperger's---so I am learning a lot about this autistic syndrome. I am now understanding why I was an unusual/eccentric child. On the whole, I like having Asperger's for all the fun interests it has given to me. It has also given me the gift of music. But at the same time, there are things about Asperger's that make me sad---like the socializing with my family. As far as other people, I have never had many friends, so that doesn't bother me.

I have learned to be very careful when buying brand new things. There is something called "outgassing" that can make me very sick. I learned this after buying new drapes, and a new desk make from particle board.
