Gummi-bears, just the red and white ones though. I eat all the crappy flavors first, then save the best for last. 8)

~

An hour ago I got awoken by the painter and his electric sanding apparatus. Bugger.

Anyway.... just had my first coffee, glass of water and a banana. Boring standard almost, kind of slowly getting started, qua eating, works best for me. (no English breakfast for this bloke)

Some haddock, a baked potato, and I finished it off with a simple salad that I threw together, with ranch dressing of course. :)

I have some Rocky Road ice cream for later. 8)

Quote:
What is the last thing you ate?

someone could only ask me that question if i was condemned to death, and i had finished my last meal.
i would tell them i had oysters mornay. that would be my final dish if i could pick one.

otherwise, the most previous thing i ate was chicken vol-au-vents.

here is an empty vol-au-vent. they are puff pastry shells designed to have other stuff scooped into them.
Image

so i bought a quarter chicken, and i removed and ate the skin (yum(but insufficient to satisfy an appetite)).

i shredded the white chicken meat with a fork onto a plate.
then i made a white sauce which is butter and flour and milk which thickens over a while to a velvety sauce. (a rue (spelled "roux") i have heard it described as) .
i added half a small jar of cream cheese (very soft) to this light roux.
i sauteed some mushrooms in another saucepan with dutch butter. i drained them and cut them up and added them to the roux.
then i added the finely shredded chicken and stirred it into a nice mixture.

i heated the vol-au-vents in the oven @150c to crisp them and brighten their texture, and then i scooped my white sauce chicken shred mushroom cream cheese mixture into them with a spoon.
i then sprinkled grated cheddar cheese and also some parmessan cheese on top and placed them under the griller for 10 mins until they were golden and done.
i tried to take a picture but my batteries were flat and i could not wait to eat my meal.

i am still happily full on that meal.
