my brother works at a slaughterfactory, and managed to (inevitably, finally... ) almost cut his thumb off
it hung by skin, so it was severed off. at the hospital he got it back on again, but when he then called my mother she was angry, cus he didnt tell her first, that is, before he told others, and cus he couldnt fix some dog-door on the day planned (its a luxury. indoors, to keep the dog from the livingroom...)

her way of apoligizing later was to tell him to get well, and then add that she had learned not to ask him any more favors

can i laugh at that??? would that be wrong??

yeah, next time she asks us a favor, we'll have to PROMISE not to get seriously injured in the meantime.
