Re-reading before posting

If I write a quick and simple post, I could spend the next hour re-reading it multiple times to make sure the post says what I intended to say, and that I didn't write anything offensive by accident. Even if I can't think of any changes I could possibly make, I still re-read multiple times before hitting submit. This kind of thing also happens with emails and texts. Surely, I can't be the only one that does this?

Yes to a lesser extent, though it sometimes depends on what specifically I'm responding to. Sometimes, I'll put off responding to something until I'm in a better frame of mind. This can lead to a disconnect where I've gone over various different mental responses that I forget to give an actual response. Still... it's less of a train wreck than a verbal response... in those cases, it doesn't matter how much thought and planning goes into it -- as soon as I open my mouth, all that goes flying out the window...

that goes for me too, and often I end up not hitting submit because I just can't decide if I should/ if it's clear enough/ or if there is anything else wrong with what I wrote.

Proof read everything for typos (Spellcheck is your friend, Autocorrect is a useful enemy), take pains not to repeat words in consecutive sentences (the Thesaurus is also your friend), and still end up editing after posting.

I'm just glad my OCD hasn't latched on to this yet. I think I'm the opposite- I don't think before I post . Some of my posts end up being deleted by moderators. I'm sorry you struggle with this, though- I know how much of a pain OCD (or just being worried) can be.

I edit some of my longer posts about five or six times, mostly for 'trivial' things like bout that...orry aadding brackets, converting a word or phrase to italics, subtlely altering the grammar of a sentence, etc. This five or six hour 'window' for editing posts is quite a big deal for me at times.

Edit: Just realized this thread is about editing pre-submission. But I do most of the above before submitting plenty of times as well....

I reread things a lot but I'm dyslexic & not a great typer in general. I usually notice mistakes when I reread after I post/send even thou I didn't notice them when I reread a couple times before.

I do this with sms/text messages, emails and letter writing also.
I waste so much of my time checking, editing, re-checking...
It's nice to know there are others like me

I've deleted more posts than I've posted. There are some threads I think "I'm sure I've posted on that", but turns out I never pressed send. Sometimes I think it doesn't come across right, sometimes I ramble on a bit and I end up writing myself into a corner. Sometimes I just think it's complete ****.
Better press send on this now before I change my mind...

I always re-read my messages! I usually do
it like 1-3 times before I finally post or send a message.

Sometimes it's just checking for errors other times it's anxiety. It's a very annoying habit and if you ever been in a chatroom well... You won't stay for very long.
