I was dumbfounded by this documentary. I somehow missed this evolution of what might have been the last kind of rebellious of subculture/subgroup to emerge in the west before the internet age (like goths, emos, mods etc).

The original "Dirty Girls" was filmed in 1996.

A follow up was done with Harper and Amber in 2013 (almost 20 years later) for anyone interested in what happened to them.

They grew up into very fun, creative souls
