I get bitchy during PMS and I tend to snap at people, esp my mom. I would like to know is there some pill out there that helps woman reduce some of the emotions during PMS. What do any of you do during PMS?

I don't get PMS anymore, but when I did I just kept track of my cycles so I could recognize what was going on and then just adjust.

Try taking a supplement of Calcium and Magnesium.
They're often formulated with D3 as well.

I currently can't.

For now, I tried calcium and magnesium... 3 months later, it didn't do much.

Already main on fish diet, had more water a day and tried to lessen sugar...
Still fluctuating.

It's not just emotions I'm struggling with PMS.
It's affecting my functioning directly to a point I'm only mostly functioning either during/at start of my period or after that just before ovulating.

Then anything went to hell a week after and for the rest of it.
It's always bad during ovulation and worse right after until period... If period has gone right and lift that veil of fog that lasts for weeks instead of becoming more annoying.

Not particularly well, I'm afraid. Hormonal shifts are hard on me and in my mid-30's I was diagnosed with PMDD, which is sort of a different beast entirely. The main thing that helps is tracking my cycles to give context to what I'm going through and trying to remember that the bad times are going to be temporary. Also, stress management, but that is easier said that done sometimes. For me, supplements have had mild or temporary benefits only, but your mileage may vary, of course.

I found that managing the physical symptoms helped my overall mood quite a bit. It’s also a good idea to minimize stress during challenging times, which is not always possible.

I’m on a hormonal IUD to help manage my endometriosis and PCOS. It makes hormonal fluctuations less extreme, so I don’t really experience PMS or periods anymore.

It definitely helps me to anticipate it (3 days prior to period). Then I can give myself a "pass" for one day. My husband has been good that when I don't remember and feel like it's all just hopeless to remind me it's That day. It's funny-weird to me that each month that day's hopelessness is so consuming and I have to "remember" to let it pass unexamined. I also have to avoid migraine triggers for the few days before and week after my period. I am considering increasing my anti-anxiety med just a touch temporarily the week before (per dr's suggestion).

For me the positive is that I also have the effects of ovulation - I am a social butterfly. There is a day or two where I am compelled to schedule events and contact friends. So that day I feel completely hopeful? That passes too. I try to use it to good effect.

Pros and cons of hormonal cycles.

Pros and cons of hormonal cycles.

Effects of ovulation usually makes me aggressive (not in a good way), angrier, moodier, emotional and impulsive...
Not to mention worse sleep quality and insomnia. Also oily skin.

Doesn't make me a social butterfly -- not even in an active but odd way sociable -- it just made me an impulsive chatter with even lesser brain and mouth filter to a point that I might as well pick fights and actually offend everyone in every other month.
I hate it. It's actually a cause of conflict during work.

Before that, it's daytime sleepiness before ovulation... It could've been funny, but it's actually annoying.

Before menstruation? Crappier cognitive performance, depression, brain fogs... 2-4 weeks of that.
Past 3 weeks was my chance to 'adapt' to that state until whatever adaptation was rendered useless within a week or less.

Menstruation is a 50/50 regaining a sense from the fog, to further worsen symptoms. And a very small chance of being myself for a day or week.

After menstruation is either a chance to recover from that, or nothing -- it just goes to dealing with pre-ovulation symptoms.

There's no "pass" for me. Not with more negative effects than positives. Only "luck" that lasts a day or week every few months to years at best.
Maybe I really should get a pill.

I go quiet so I just wait until it stops and then I can be like me again.

This is about PMS, not PMs.

Do you use a hot water bottle for the one's you can't ignore?

Depending on the PM sometimes I do need an aspirin after reading it.

I also report problematic PMs. (However, I don't report my PMS.)
