I'm wondering if it normal to not have a period for 7 months & then get your period? My period last a week or more. I thought I was going into menopause next month. I skipped my period one for 5 months, but I was very sick.

You might want to talk to your doctor about it. It could be related to menopause. Periods often become less frequent before they stop completely.

I've gone a long time without periods (6 months, I think) because of ovarian cysts. When I'd finally get a period, it would be pretty awful.

You might have some kind of menstruation related disorder, in which case you should visit a doctor just in case you need to be referred to a gynecologist.

It could also be your age and the stage of the menopause you may be at.

I don't understand why men would want to comment on menstruation issues in Women's Discussion.

I used the "view posts since last visit" feature and this thread was at the top.

Nothing more sinister than that. :nerdy:

Telling a woman what she should do here reads a bit mansplainy.

Fair do's.

I'll try to keep my nose out the women's discussion. I often post really fast without giving much thought.

I can see why a man in the forum might be an issue with such a sensitive topic.

Cis men can post here. Whether it's a good idea or not depends on what the topic is about, I think.

I don't have an issue to be fair.

I don't know how old op is so it's hard to say why. Mine stopped for a year when I was in my early 20s because I was vastly underweight (I'm talking emaciated thin). My periods are actually more regular now I'm 50 than they have ever been. I'm waiting for them to stop but they just keep coming so I don't know.

OK well could be perimenopause in that case. I've heard it's best to see a doctor if it causes problems

I am early 50s and my same-age friends are regularly skipping a month and have skipped 6-7 months once or twice. I'd think they are 1-2 years away from menopause (I'm just starting to skip 1 month here and there, so 2-3 years away). My SIL was one of those that skipped 11 months and then got her period --- restart the clock!! :P

Probably just menopause hormones, I guess. Or the body runs out of ova... but wait... found another one :D

I've been waiting a couple of years for my periods to stop but they just kept coming. But now I've missed two months and getting hot flashes so it's finally happening.

The last time I had my period was October, before it stopped for 7 months. I been getting hot flashes on & off for 10 years, I only woke up in a sweat probably a couple times.

Sarcasm: The menstrual cycle and perimenopause especially are lovely.

Handling hormonal cycles (or the Change) on top of ASD... just lovely.

One More Thing.
