In some cultures, men DO wear makeup. In our modern, western culture, it's not common, and I'm too lazy at the moment to research why. Why do you care, anyway? Nobody's forcing you to put on make-up if you don't want to, and there's nothing wrong with wearing it.

I use a moisturizer for my face, right after shaving.

No "guyliner" for me; it looks too ... Egyptian ...?

I dunno ... the best makeup isn't obvious, anyway.

It's not unfair at all. Nobody said you gals HAVE to wear it. I personally hate it, and I wouldn't care if I'm expected to wear it or not. I wouldn't.

You whine and complain about societal expectations of men... why can't you just shrug those expectations off as well?

Uh... I DO shrug them off... Otherwise I wouldn't have learned how to sew or cook, and I wouldn't be living with a woman who makes more money than I do.

I don't get why some people are so judgemental about women who choose to wear makeup.
What's on the inside that matters, with or without makeup.
Some men like to wear different styles of facial hair.
Some people have tattoos, body piercing, and all kinds of body modifications to express or feel good about themselves.
Sure some might look ridiculous but I'll try not to judge them by how they look.

Precisely. So why wear it if it's not going to change your inside?

Because a lot of people that use make-up are not interested in changing their inside. Your face is your face, your personality is your personality. It's not that transcendent.

But if I enjoy it, why shouldn't I wear it? And doing something I enjoy, for myself, does have a positive impact on my mental state.

Why is it so important to you what other people are wearing on their own bodies?

Sometimes it's really disappointing to read the women's section and see so many judgmental people.

Makeup can be used to enhance your features, but it doesn't have magic transformational properties unless you're putting it on with a spackle( such as a drag look). I wear makeup most days, but when I don't my husband isn't shuddering in the corner from my supposed hideousness. I think it's fun, and can help reduce the dark circles of lack of sleep or stress.

I'm not judging anyone, I know I don't have to wear make-up but I've been criticised by a lot of women in the past because I don't wear make-up and that I look plain. It's social obligation, I feel that I should wear something on my eyes to make me look more ''feminine''. It all gets on my nerves.

I never met a woman that criticized my lack of interest on make-up. Joe90, I don't know how can you bear that big amount of shallow idiots around you.

People shouldn't criticize you, it's really none of their business if you don't like makeup.

I don't see anyone being judgemental, and I hope you're not referring to me. I don't judge people for wearing makeup, I just really strongly dislike it. I wanna see what the person really looks like, and I hate getting it on me. It's a sensory issue. I've always had problems with having anything on my face. Plus, waiting for a girl to do her makeup before each and every time you step out of the house is really annoying.

Also, I feel like you shouldn't have to feel the need to put on a "mask" for other people to see you. I wish women were more confident or indifferent about the way they look. And I think that the less they concentrate on appearance, perhaps the more men would appreciate them for what's on the inside.
