The other night on TV they spoke of cats as healers, that their purr is within the healing frequencies of the human body, and a woman said that if you're not well a cat will - well, you already know, don't you? Once I fell down the stairs at my sister's house and after she put me to bed, her cat came and sat on the bed and purred at me. I fell asleep and woke to the soft thump of the cat landing on the floor. I thought, "I must be better if the cat's leaving." And I was.

I'm glad you brought that up. My cat is very protective like that. Whenever I have been ill my cat will pace and cry like she thinks she's suppose to do something. She snuggled close beside me once when I had a bad reaction to a medication and taped on me ever so often to wake me up as I was having trouble staying conscious. Then last week when I had asthma attacks all week, my kitty kept hitting me between the shoulder blades with her paw and crying as if she thought that would stop my coughing.

I am not that old and have only one cat, but I'm already a crazy cat lady.

I debate whether I will get another cat after my old girl dies. She's 14. I worry that I don't spend enough time with her between working a lot and staying on the internet when I am at home. I also worry what would happen to a pet if I died since I have two serious illnesses and not sure how much longer I will survive.

No, I think I'll be a crazy old rat lady. I only have two rats at the moment cos I'm not allowed any more.

I've never had a cat, but we have a mother and four kittens regularly using our garden, and my mum said we can keep one or two of the kittens if we ever catch them (we're working on gaining their trust, then catching them to be taken to be spayed and rehomed). So I might find that I do have a real liking for cats.

But, at the moment, I'm more of a dog person. I'd really like another dog (lost our baby in July) but I don't think any will live up to Sam. He was amazing.

I love cats, a bit allergic to them but I'd have them anyways. I'd just have to buy stocks in the entire products of an allergy meds company. Heh.

Crazy old cat and dog lady for me, as I love both cats and dogs.

I LOVE RATS

If I had a bigger place where there could be a room just for the rats, I'd have rats AND cats!

I'll probably have a lot of pets when I'm old, but I don't know if they'll be cats, or if I'll be crazy.

No I won't.

I had a wonderful cat and because of my AS, I couldn't take care of her well. She died and I think it was because of me - I gave her away to somebody else after 12 years (I have gotten worse AS symptoms) and she died of a broken heart.

I wouldn't ever do this again to an animal.

I will be content to live with a roommate with a cat or dog or 2...

I am a hoarder and a collector as part of my Aspie thing. I know I would hoard cats - so I have to be strong...

Waaaa. Waaaa! Does anybody here think it's really hard to be crazy?

I love cats, so I don't think I would mind becoming a crazy old cat lady.

I'd like to have at least one cat, but first I need to move into a place that allows them.
