Being obvious of managing and applying make-up

For lipsticks you should use a colour that compliments your teeth. If you have yellow-ish teeth, no bold reds. You need white teeth to pull red off. That's why I want my teeth whitened cos my teeth can be yellow-ish or white-ish at different times!

I think I've seen that girl. It's so entertaining to watch though.

I learned how to apply make-up through plenty of teen magazines and trial-and-error all throughout high school. Now, I rarely put on make-up. When I do, I keep it very simple.

Concealor under eyes and to even out skin tone (scars, etc)
Pressed powder over that
little bit of blush
Curl eyelashes (sometimes run it through blow-dryer for 15 seconds), mascara
Brow brush and mascara
Chapstick or lipgloss

When I go out, I might put on eyeliner. But most times, I can't be bothered with that. I just tweeze my eyebrows. I'm more concerned with the condition of my skin and health. I use herbal remedies and take vitamins, and drink lots of water.

I don't bother with makeup. Never have, never will. Why bother?

I didn't know that using an eyelash curler would make it easier to apply mascara!

Once, after my mother-in-law visited us (and I'm sure she put him up to asking the question) my husband asked me why I never wore makeup.

My answer was "what part of my face do you think is ugly or could use improvement?".

Fortunately for him he was clever enough to not answer my question.

That's the root of my terror of it all. I've spent countless hours trying, but no matter what I cannot seem to actually get the darn stuff on my face where I want to. I read girls magazines in high school and learned what things were called etc, but to date I have never managed to put the theory into practice without getting upset.

I recently went out and bought some very basic makeup of my own (just lips/eyes, nothing fancy at all) because there was a very formal occasion for a relative and I was told that I was supposed to wear it. After an hour of scrubbing my face clean angrily each time I screwed up my husband told me it wasn't worth the stress. For my wedding I had some put on by a professional and hated everything about it, so I guess I'm not missing much. Much prefer being free and myself! Though those people who do manage to apply it well have my grudging respect.

I'm clueless about makeup but it still looks nice when I apply it. It's easy when you just calm down. It's easy to figure out.

Hmm, makeup was actually one of my obsessions.

I know all about the primer, concealer, foundation, powders, etc.
I have all sorts of different brushes and sponges to apply my makeup just how I want it.
I have many different colors of eyeshadows, and I can combine colors and create just the look I want.


People have often asked me if I had my makeup professionally done.


I am also very well-aware that makeup does not make a person look prettier. If you are ugly, makeup will not make you look pretty. If you are pretty with makeup on, you are most likely just as pretty without makeup.

I'm also clueless when it comes to make-up. Anytime someone puts it on me it makes me feel so fake-- not to mention all the brushes and such used are uncomfortable. And as for me putting it on-- I can barely apply fingernail polish without getting it everywhere (and I still do a terrible job at it)

That's true, but it can make a plain person prettier. Some people think "plain" is just a polite way of saying ugly, but I take it to mean someone who isn't ugly, but isn't pretty either.

Hmm, well I guess that is true, too. I never really thought of that.

i got no problem w/ make-up whatsoever. i love it, went to school for it, graduated from it, and yet i'm unemployed. here's my work for it:

I don't wear much makeup. I always end up looking like a clown when I try.

great stuff ttqs! I don't have a problem with make up but I tend to stick to dark browns- I have no idea what other colours go with dark hair/dark eyes/pale skin look. any suggestions?

Online web tutorials are fine, but none of them show chubby faces with my skin/eye/hair color.

When I need make-up advice (and many other kinds of advice) I go to my neurotypical sister who has great fashion sense and seems to be able to read people's minds. She's able to find colors and techniques that work for me. I learned how to put on blush and how to blend eye shadow colors from her. I don't have the same finesse that she does, but at least now I know what I'm doing with those mineral eye shadows.

For me, make-up is just fun, not a necessity. I think I look fine without it. Why, then, do I keep buying more of it?
