Autism and Marijuana
In Brazil the access to cannabis is much easier. I confess that I like to get stoned because I can express my ideas more clearly, so that everyone can understand me. Which, at the time, was most of my problems. Sometimes I feel that people like us are not as mean as they usually judge us. I feel the lightness. The issue is my relationship with the outside world. I have to recognize that my perfectionism makes me pay attention to the particularities of life, from a charge coming from this society capable of poisoning anyone.
I have prescription marijuana gummies, 5mg, but I only take them when I am sobbing so much and for so long that I don't know what else to do. They help some with the crying, by calming me down, but I don't like how they make me feel. I feel a bit dulled and slightly uncoordinated and clumsy. They do not help with social interaction and would probably hinder it because it's sort of like being in a slight fog.
I use it in the same way others might use it as a social lubricant. I also find it helps me with sensory issues and decompressing after a long day. I only use it at home with my partner or with close friends. Being outside and high is always a nightmare.

I would even go so far as occasionally psychotic, I actually heard voices that were not there but fortunately never became delusional with it like in schizophrenia.
Everyone has to do what works for them I suppose but think if you have a mental health problem it can magnify it as it did to me.
Weed makes me paranoid, too.
Or at least it has on the select few occasions I have tried it. I also become more emotionally disinhibited whilst on it, which isn't necessarily a good thing.
It tends to make it harder for me to engage socially; it's harder to mask and I'm even less motivated to talk and I struggle more to articulate what I'm thinking. My coordination gets worse. I become a lot more aware of thirst and hunger. Different strains will either make me more or less anxious. I'm envious of anyone that finds it makes it easier for them to socialise.
It also exacerbates my ADHD symptoms badly; I lose things easier and am much more easily distractable.
Having said all that it's a good band-aid when overwhelmed.

When I smoked weed at age 17, I grew so paranoid that "they" were coming to get me and take me away even though I had no idea who "they" were. This belief lasted a whole night and I never want to experience that again. I'd likely end up with paranoid schizophrenia if I tried it again.
I think it depends a lot on the person. Might be overall very helpful, or just give you a rotten experience. So maybe the best thing would be to try a small dose. They say that this "cannabis psychosis" thing can happen to a minority of young people using very high-THC varieties, otherwise I suppose it's as dangerous as crossing the road. They also say that in some jurisdictions the police would usually do you a lot more damage than the drug would, so it may be better to do it legally if possible.
CBD appeared to tone down my sensory issues and mellow me out, but only in prohibitively-expensive large doses. I would get round the cost by simply growing my own hemp, but apparently it's a criminal offense to do that without a costly and hard-to-get license, and I don't want to jeopardize my Green Card, so I'm stumped unless I move to a place where the law is less strict, and that wouldn't be without bigger problems.

I have been smoking weed off and on for about 50 years. Sometimes, it helps and other times it does not. I just need to be careful and dose myself properly. Weed was fun when I was in college, but then it became more of a crutch and I stopped for many years. If you are new to weed, start with small doses of weed or edibles. Give yourself some time to become comfortable with being stoned. Fighting it and getting anxious about being stoned will make the experience uncomfortable. Adding CBD can calm you done a little.

does your state at least have a medical pot regime?

I've heard that it does, but that most doctors will have nothing to do with it, so that in practice it's rather hard to get the pot. I suppose I'd have to qualify as being in medical need of the stuff, and I'd probably have to cross the bigwigs' hands with silver at every turn. I don't even have a doctor or medical insurance here yet. You'd have hoped that doing it legally would be cheaper, but I hear otherwise.

missouri is to your north and pot is legal there. might be worth your while to take a day trip up there and get you some pot.
It varies by state, but you might be able to get a prescription form the website docmj.com. You might have to provide a qualifying diagnosis from your regular doctor, which again varies by state. In my state (as far as I've been told) you have to have pain or PTSD. But many diagnoses can include pain.

Thanks for the info, but I'm more looking for a way of legally and cheaply using CBD, not marijuana as such - I suspect that would antagonise my already poor short-term memory although that would be temporary. I gather it's also also still illegal (perhaps criminally so) to use it in a public place or even in a vehicle that's in a public place, which are the only places I can think of where I could use it at all, the definition of public being rather broad ranging. The journey there would probably take a couple of hours by car. Carrying it back over the State line would be a criminal offense for sure.
Still, I'm grateful for the heads-up, and will keep the information in case the situation changes or a legal loophole comes to light in the future.
