I'm not physically hyperactive, and have tended to dismiss the possibility of ADHD because of that. My mind on the other hand!! It can tend to go into '20 TV channels on at the same time, each showing a different programme' mode. That can make me feel overwhelmed, and ramp up my anxiety.

Aside from the overly busy mind; I have chronic difficulties/deficits when it comes to organising and planning. I struggle when it comes to multistep tasks and prioritising. It's not something mental health professionals notice in the way a person being physically hyperactive is noticed.

Don't tell the shrinks that or they'll have us all on psych meds.
I've often experiened my mind not shutting off because of anxiety & OCD. Getting on a med to treat the anxiety & another for the OCD compulsions helps me a lot. I tend to not think deeply unless Im feeling anxious or my OCD is acting up. Of coarse with psych meds individual results can majorly varry. I strongly encurage others to take a proactive role with their health. Don't blindly trust psychs or docs or me or anyone else to know what's best for you. Try to understand yourself & issues & do a bit of research when trying things.
