I don't really like being touched unless it is VERY firm...in one part of military training we are required to tap once firmly on the shoulder to switch places, and even when I know it's coming I f*****g DREAD the tap, but I don't mind other activities where we're all crammed together and I'm being crushed almost. But I also work at a petstore (dog care) and for the most part it's much better than my last job because apart from jackass high school "supervisors" I deal with dogs and not people, but some days I just don't want to be touched by the animals...especially when I'm working with the larger or more exciteable (sp?) dogs, and they just jump up on me. I HATE it and I know it looks bad (since the pet parents can see us through the glass) for me to be trying to get a dog to get away from me when he's just saying hello but I HATE just being touched when I'm not expecting it/don't want it. (I realize it may seem like I'm in the wrong line of work but given my social skills this is much, MUCH better than anything else I could be in.) Does anybody else dislike being touched by animals, or is it just people??

I'm not crazy about it, but I think I like it better. Then again, I am not physically hurt by people either. It is more of an intense dislike/discomfort with humans.

I feel about the same about a pet as I would about a lover. Sometimes I like it, sometimes it's just annoying.

I love being touched by animals but dogs can be a bit in your face can't they?

Blow in their noses. They shy away from you after that.

If they are jumping on you or leaning into that isn't good anyway. It means they are trying to establish dominance over you in the pack. It seems friendly, but in packs they establish order through games and that's what is happening with you. Don't avert your eyes, don't freak out no matter what and keep some treats close by. Put the treats in your closed fist and make them sit or stand calm to get them. You decide where you want them to be. You can also make the buzzing noise to reprimand them if it doesn't bother you. That usually makes them mind pretty quick. And when you snap out an order, lower your voice as much as possible (closer to male decibels the better) and snap it. To them that's a sharp leader bark and it sends the signal to behave. But if you do any of that and avert your eyes, you'll be sending mixed signals and it will start again.

i dont like being touched but i like grappling, or submition wrestling. its a contact sport, witch seems to be contradictory to my not liking touching.

I mostly hate people coming too close or touching me, but I quite enjoy sitting close beside people I really like a lot. Otherwise its cringe-making.

I am used to animals being close since I lived on a farm and you get used to going into feed them and them rushing for the food, so thats not such a big deal.

I like being touched by my cats. Big dogs can be a problem, as I am fairly small and could easily get knocked over.

Sometimes not with dogs, but that's usually just because it's someone else's dog so I'm never expecting it
I don't mind my cat though, or any other cat really. Cats are soft and fluffy too, they feel nice 8O

I use to like rolling around on the lawn with a dog as a kid and I did not care how dirty I got. But I did not like cats rubbing around my legs. I would hold a cat on my lap to a point when it started to tramp its front clawy paws up and down on me as I was nursing it. Then I would have push if off my lap quickly as possible.

I like it when cats do that. Only if I have thick clothes on though because otherwise it hurts :)
