To the disappointment of my father (that's a theme between us) I had no interest in sports whatsoever. I guess I had some interest in motorsports, but it's probably not the kind of sport you were asking about. Formula 1 and rallying. There is a picture of 8-year-old me sitting in Michael Schumacher's (real!) last Benetton race car. Might be my favorite childhood picture. I was surprised by how simple and minimal the race car interior was, I was expecting more. The grown-up engineer me understands that it was all for the sake of weight reduction. Still, the child me was a little unimpressed.
My uncle had a Lancia Delta Integrale 16v Turbo, I loved that car to death as a kid.

If your father was a macho father----why wouldn't he like you to like auto racing? It's a very macho sport. It takes brains as well as brawn.

My father was into sports----but I was even more into sports----even though I sucked at them.

Actually dad did take me to a couple of demolition derby race events and a couple of semi-pro winter snow circuit races. We were poor, and racing is a rich man's sport. We actually took our car on a frozen lake once and had some fun on the amateur ice circuit ourselves. In my teen years my parents were too busy working to support that interest, besides I then had the full resource of the Internet to satisfy my interest.

It's just not a sport my father considered valuable. He wanted me playing soccer (which I quite dislike), but I was really bad and wasn't getting better. I was also a mediocre swimmer... I'm also terrible at table tennis, if I can hit the ball back that's an achievement. I do have a really unusual volleyball serve that everybody has trouble returning, when I serve I usually score at least 4 points out of 5 serves, but I'm useless on the court otherwise and someone has to cover my area for me. I'm really bad at catching or otherwise hitting a ball back.

I like watching the Summer and Winter Olympics on TV. They're a special interest of mine. I've been watching them since I was 9. I also like to watch both the Men's and Women's Fifa World Cup. I also like to watch hockey as well.

I boycott the Olympics, and any sponsor of them I happen to notice. The IOC has become a destroyer of cities. There is no reason that games for amateurs can't be held in rented facilities all over, with the winners flown to a central awards ceremony. Only one stage set would go to waste, instead of whole neighbourhoods.
I came very late to an appreciation of teamwork, and tried to minimize all physical effort as a youth. I only discovered the benefits of fitness due to the practicality of bicycle use, which also has its sporting aspects in traffic. I have followed motor sports for the technical developments, but do enjoy the suspense on track as well. I have raced a bit using pedal power.

I grew up immersed in, and liking to watch and play, sports.

I used to get really into (especially) baseball statistics as a kid.

Sports is an escape from the humdrum of everyday existence.

And I had lots of trauma associated with sports. Because I just sucked at them.

Cycling, running, endurance sports. I was long-distance cyclist for many years, but haven't ridden in almost six years. Now I mostly hike.
