I had a pair of swimming trunks that lasted me twenty years. YES, they were washed on a regular basis (to save anyone asking) but in those days things were built to last.

I still have a few pairs of shorts that are from high school. One pair has holes in the pockets big enough for my wallet to fall through.

I think it's not so much that I'm attached to any of the clothes. It's more that I'm not attached to the idea of new clothes and I don't care to go shopping for them.

Yup.

My loose, matt-black synth-leather jacket.

It's my psychological armour.

My black combat pants that I got aged 16, grew into and out of. I still have them, though I cut off the lower legs becaue they were falling apart.

Yup, 2 shirts. One is as holy as hell (and I don't mean religious) and I love to wear it to bed. It's 10 years old. The other is a shirt that belonged to my Grandpa (he died in 1988) I wear it when I miss him. It's huge on me (he was a big man) but it makes me feel loved.

I have a t-shirt I wear from when Charles Barkley was with the 76ers. Some of the stuff I wear is starting to come back in fashion. :)

I don't throw anything out unless it's falling apart, so most of my clothes are old. Some very old. I don't derive any benefit from them being old, though. Except for having shirts that retain their creases well. :)

Mum sneakily throws out my old clothes when I'm not around, or forces me to choose 5 outfits to throw away from my wardrobe. :( Otherwise I'd never throw out a single item of clothing probably. Half the stuff I wear around home I've owned for over 10 years (the other stuff is just too small to fit). One of my jumpers is over 50 years old, it was a family friend's ancient jumper first (she originally got it second hand), and we went to their place for dinner when I was a kid and I forgot to bring my jumper, so she gave me that one, and I've kept it and worn it ever since. :)

Well put! My green fleece is my psychological armour too!

The disadvantage of being in your twenties is you can't wear your 17 year old clothes, LOL

I hate buying new clothes.

When I absolutely have to I will buy another couple of shirts or pairs of pants and wear them until people insist that I replace them.

They are like good friends. They have served me well and I hate to part with them.

Very true. It's worth more than its weight in rhodium, which is worth more than its weight in platinum, which is worth more than its weight in white gold, which is worth more than its weight in yellow gold, which is worth more than its weight in sterling silver.

(sadly enough, I actually researched that just so I could write this comment)

I wear the same thing day after day, I wash my 'outfit' every few days or so. I change my socks and underwear daily. Old cloths not so much. I mean I will wear this outfit I have until someone forces me to go buy more cloths, and I usually just pick out whatever is close to what I had on before, hahaha. Though last summer I had friends push me to the point that they forced me to go to the mall with them and pick out more than just one pair or pants and one shirt. However within the last year I just got back into my old habit of just wearing the same thing everyday.

Is this normal for an aspie?? Please let me know!!

Well, I have a lot more ancient clothes than most, since unless I'm working (and sometimes when I am) I wear a lot of vintage. However, so far as clothes I've worn for years and refuse to get rid of....yeah, I've got a lot of those. I stopped wearing really old, worn clothes outside, but so far as nighties and around-the-house clothes, I always stick to a few old favourites. I like the feel of them, perhaps MORE now that they're older and softer, and it's an added bonus that I've lost a lot of weight over the years, because BIG is COMFORTABLE when you're sleeping or lounging.
