On why people don't discuss their quirks on normal forums
^ I actually only learned about that on this forum. I had no idea people did that. In fact, I still have a hard time believing it I rarely consider 'why' someone said things to me or what motive they have in doing so and I think that gets me in trouble. I also have a hard time figuring out what motives others will ascribe to what I say and that definately gets me in trouble
The only social motive I can think of for an NT to share random quirks would be that they are bored and looking for negative attention. Actually, don't take my word for it, I'm terrible at this stuff. I actually saw the above happen, though, where someone talked about something weird they were doing at the moment and someone else instantly came back with 'attention seeker! ' .. so I think my analysis is correct.
Also may help to explain why you/we sometimes get attacked on other forums for doing just that

At 45, I am only beginning to become aware of the degree that people question and assign motive to what I say or do or don't say or don't do. I don't think in the same way as most people do. It amazes me the motives I am suspected or accused of, as these kinds of thinking are so totally foreign to me. People seem to have a hard time getting used to the fact that a person they know as intelligent can be so basic and simple when it comes to dealing with people. Instead, they ascribe thought characteristics of other people they know, which would never in a million years even cross my mind.
