I think I fit the latter category of most people with AS, I'm pretty outgoing, but I'm told I'm pretty socially awkward. But, compared to about everyone in my NT family (except my father) I'm the most outgoing (but I'm also the only male and on the whole females aren't very outgoing) and I've always been very outgoing. I'd talk to strangers and ask them random questions about like...science or if they liked Star Trek at age 4-5.

Another mostly extroverted Aspie here... although as I age I become more introverted as social rejection gets more intolerable to bear. 8O

It's like... I can talk a lot, but it will take me a while to carry on a two-sided conversation. When I am with unfamiliar people, I will tread cautiously just out of fear of offending the person, though I would really like to go at one hundred miles an hour while I slow myself down to twenty.

I'm completely extroverted. I've been like that since preschool, when I learned my social skills. My friends have to wait in a "line" to plan a day to hang out with me! True story :)
