Why Summer Sucks!
I hate summer too, The flies, the Mosquitos, the stinking hot weather. having to Hibernate with the air conditioner on all day.
We're in winter at the moment its nice to be able to go for a walk in the mornings I get annoyed when people on the radio whinge about the cold I wish we only had Winter Autumn and spring as seasons, if America are having a stinking hot summer this year I hate to think what us Aussies are in for in december.
I've recently moved to a new neighbourhood and have discovered that it is covered with screaming children, arrghh. It's the middle of winter here, as well, so I can assume it will only get worse.
It's also a very dog friendly neighbourhood, but I can tolerate barking more than relentlessly shrill parasites.
They also have the nerve to toss balls over the road, and since I live in a very hilly town, and my house is down a steep bank, of course their ball has to roll down and hit the damn recycling bin, then they come speeding down to retrieve it and my dog goes apeshit every time. Do they stop? NO. And it's not like there are no backyards for them to play in, they INSIST on playing on the footpath/ road. I.Hate.Children.
I agree that dog barking is more tolerable than screaming kids. In fact, I don't want to come off as someone who doesn't like dogs. I actually like them a lot and they always seem to like me. I think I'm more bother by the dog barking when it's in response to another sound I can't stand because it's like an echo of the obnoxious sound and I kind of feel like the dogs!
NOOOoOOoo..I love summer and hate winter!! Even if my summer is really kind of sucking. The bugs never really eat me up much either, I think they like certain types of folk. Now winter, talk about a cruddy time, I can't stand Christmas and the cold SUCKS, especially because I run at night and it gets bitterly chilly around 2-3 am. We don't get a lot of snow but when it does snow its very beautiful, its just rare and the only noteworthy thing about winter to me.
Heat is never good, I just dislike cold more.
I dislike the Summer, sometimes with the heat it can make it difficult do go about your day. That mixed with more people around and noisy kids around the neighborhood due to the holidays can make the Summer a drag of a time. Also, bugs coming in your window if you have it open more than 5 minutes But strangely when the Sun is out it can perk up my mood. I guess my favorite season here is Spring, as its still cold here and sometimes still get some Sun.
I like summertime. There just seems to be a very relaxed vibe throughout, which is a wonderful de-stresser for me. I've been thinking of getting up earlier so I can go out and enjoy the weather before it heats up all nasty. Maybe take a nap in my room with the A/C when it gets really bad outside, then go to the mall or something. What I like about the mall that they have two towns over, is that it's kinda dead, especially on weekdays. I'm unemployed for now, so I'll be happy to stretch my legs and get out of the house while I collect. Since I quit smoking pot, my metabolism has crashed, and I'm gaining too much weight. When I lived in Boston, the walking I did had me at my skinniest.
Dogs don't bother me. I love them to pieces. I have a Golden Retriever myself, and seeing her wag her tail at me every morning when I get up lifts my spirits like you wouldn't believe.

I enjoy the summer. I like the warm weather and the bright sunshine. I also like to see the sun reflecting off the cars and the flower beds as I go for walks. I also like that there's more hours of daylight. The only things that I don't like about summer is that the kids are out of school and the heatwaves.

I'm increasingly hating summer because:
It's difficult to sleep (not only heat and $#@#$ humidity but noise from outside. Don't even get me started on the loud "rednecks" who party every night)
More people out and about (and you seem like the only single person in the world)
More laundry (which I detest)
Very little hockey going on. Not so much because it's my main interest but because it's my opportunity to feel comfortable in a social setting. I usually go alone to games but know a large number of people in the crowd who accept me for who I am. It also keeps my weekends busy as well.
Slow at work and not as challenging. Can get both boring and unpredictable if that's possible.
i hate summer because of the heat and humidity. also the sun rises earlier and hurts my eyes when i am still sleeping. and sweat and parties and the pressure to wear bathers and swim in revealing clothes and i still have some body image issues on top of my distaste for swim wear fashions of this decade.
I love summer, but I really like spending time outdoors away from people and noises.
I hate being in the backcountry and hearing someone's open piped vehicle blaring miles away when I'm hiking.
But, I love walking alone on a trail listening to the rhythm of the pack squeak as I walk and hearing squirrels rustle in the leaves.
The past week or so, we've had a road crew doing construction right outside my house with tons of reverse alarms, tractors, mowers/whackers, backhoes, and whatnot. So, I'm now here at the local college in a public area trying to work with headphones on. I just endured a half hour chit chat session with a gregarious classmate, and now I'm back to headphones and getting back in my routine.
Summer isn't so bad. You just have to find your bliss and endure the parts that are not blissful.

2. Children who have parents who don't seem to know they should not allow their offspring to SCREAM AT THE FREAKING TOP OF THE LUNGS FOR HOURS in a residential neighborhood, especially in their neighbor's yard right outside their open window!! ! Followed up of course by a chorus of all neighborhood dogs barking each and every time the little darlings let out a particularly loud shriek (i.e. often)!
3. People who feel the need to mow their lawn every time a daffodil or daisy pops up, i.e. WAY TOO OFTEN!! ! Followed up of course by a chorus of all neighborhood dogs barking!
4. Insects that seem to think I'm the most delicious blood buffet in the entire neighborhood! At least the dogs don't bark unless I scream!
5. Fireworks, especially those NOT on the 4th when I am prepared for such things!! Followed up of course by a chorus of all neighborhood dogs barking after each and every round, except of course those poor dogs that are so distraught they have to be medicated to survive it!
6. Murphy's Law: every single time I think everything has quieted down and it's so peaceful I decide to go outside to sip a cup of coffee or tea, it all starts up again!!
Sorry for the rant. I don't REALLY hate summer, although it is my least favorite of the 4 seasons, but today (and recently) has been a real test of my abilities and strategies to avoid sensory overload! I've also come to the conclusion that summer is the season of noises I hate the most!
Oh, and I forgot to mention the heat which also sucks! I see people lounging out in the hot sun looking all relaxed and happy but for me it would be another form of torture. At least that's one I can easily avoid!
In my opinion, the only good season is Fall. I like early to mid fall when it's cool outside every day, but almost never hot or cold. There are no bugs to bite or sting and I actually like how plain everything looks and how the trees all look like skeletons without leaves.
I guess I am lucky not to have very sensitive hearing, because I am sure all the sounds that are associated with summer can be absolute misery. But the kids are definitely annoying and if your neighbors allow their kids to run around on your property and scream just outside your window , they should not be parents. Someone in the government really should consider my idea for a parental licensing law...
What I absolutely do not understand is why you called children "little darlings". I would think "little horrors" "little pests" "little reasons to be annoyed" sound like way better terms to describe them.

NOT so simple!! !
I actually despise earplugs and I've tried several types. They hurt my ears and the "sound" you get, all muffled and weird, drives me nuts. I also don't like being forced to block out all the sounds I like. I like birds singing in summer, wind blowing, and I even like a dog barking occasionally in a more "natural" way. I like the soft playful laughter of children, just not the totally obnoxious hyperactive SCREAMING that does even seem "normal" to me that some kids seem to do today. Sometimes I have resorted to earbuds and music or some other sound and I can like this for a while but not indefinitely so when these things are going on all day hard to do anything about it. I also happen to HATE air conditioning and I don't happen to live in a place currently where it is essential so the windows are open.
As an aspie, I realize that I am more sensitive to obnoxious sounds that the average person and I do have acute hearing. However, I also think that many NT's don't appreciate kids screaming to the top of their lungs on the street in front of their house, next to their door, next to their window, into their yard sometimes and all throughout the neighborhood all day long. I've known elderly people who were definitely not aspies who became very agitated when this was going on. I've known others who couldn't sleep because of it. I really think the problem here is that people have forgotten how to teach their kids manners and respect, not every parent, but the vast majority of them. And buzz tools could be made to be quieter I think and should be but I actually think people enjoy using these extreme noise makers regardless of how it affects others and this is what is driving making them even louder. The overall noise pollution that we have today I think is a contributing factor to the increased aggression we are seeing in the world.

1. Disagree. Using the weedwacker and lawn mowers is loud but considerit for us too. I have to get up early to weed whack my whole property and then cut it so it doesn't take up the whole day and I dont have to work in the hot sun.
2. agree- SHUT UP YOUR BRATS (i mean children). I dont mind dogs as much but it still annoys me especially when our dog does it.
Hate bugs or getting bit by them, having to put on bug spray etc.
Fire works are ok on the 4th of July and days in between.
People sitting in the sun it is really their choice.
