Zero. In the past 3 years, I hung out with two people (separate from each other), but it never grew into a proper friendship.

I feel lonely sometimes, but I've so gotten used to doing things and spending time by myself, that I'm actually reluctant to start any friendships.

No close friends at the moment, but I have a decent number of ordinary friends and high acquaintances. I don't really know where to draw the line between acquaintance and friend.

I'm very grateful to have my hubby who is also my best friend. I have acquaintances and whatnot to do things occasionally who I mostly know through work. I'm quite alone otherwise, for example, today I'm off of work, the only person I've seen other than my hubby is the maintenance guy who's painting our building.

I don't know really. I have work friends whom I don't meet out of work but I do talk to them at work and if something's worrying me I feel I can talk to them about it and they're always nice to me.

I also have friends at the volunteer job what I attend once a week, but again I don't see them outside of the volunteering, but that's because they work full time in paid jobs during the week, but I do speak to one of them on Facebook, so I consider them friends too.

Then I have a few people here and there who I am friendly with and we have arranged to go out for a coffee or lunch but haven't got round to it yet.

And then I have a couple of friends that I meet up with, one I meet about once or twice a week and I go to her place and have lunch. And the other friend I meet every few weeks and we go shopping.

And then I have my boyfriend.

So yeah, I suppose I have more friends than what I think I have. I really shouldn't complain about being lonely. Maybe I should stop and look at my life a little bit more, and try to learn that I am luckier than some.

I have friends just for the sake of not being alone in school, I prefer to be alone most of the time and I never want to hang out with them away from school.

None.

I used to have a friend who had Autism, but when I was 18, my mother banned me
from seeing him because she believed him to be gay.

I agree. I think you should try to find the guy and reconnect.

This makes me unhappy. Please tell me that you at least have some social contact like at work.

Just a statement of fact. Nothing to be unhappy about. Not unusual either seeing that (as of now) 37% of respondents in this poll have no friends, and a further 35% have only one or two. (I used to belong to the second category for about a year, between 2005-06.)
