So, anyone planning to go to the new Annie film this December?

Actually, I thought that was the one Jeni was talking about, but as I read the rest of the thread, I realized it wasn't.

No, I'll not be going to see it. I don't mean to be rude, but I don't like when "white movies" get made into "black movies". "The Wiz", for instance, was a JOKE of a movie!! I say, leave great films, alone!! I don't even, usually, like remakes----though "A Star is Born" was good----but, that newer Willy Wonka movie was PATHETIC!! !

Movies get remakes all the time, and casting choices can hardly redeem a movie with bad or unoriginal story writing. I liked the new Karate Kid, and also Disney’s spin on the The Princess and the Frog. It’s why I have a preference for something like Cinderella (1997), which is just another remake of Rodgers & Hammerstein’ Cinderella, over something like Another Cinderella Story (2008). In fact, this March another Cinderella remake will come out.

In the case of Annie (2014), from what I gleaned from the Wiki page, most of the musical score will be like the original, with three new additional songs. I think the whole thing will have a more pop song feel to it, but unlike The Whiz, I think this movie will stay more true to the story we know. So, I’ll give it a chance even if I get disappointed.
