Given my severe sensory issues, this also grosses me out. It grosses me out worse than that time I wore a sweater I bought from American Eagle and I forgot to remove the tag from it. It bothered me all day and I couldn't sleep. It was a terrible day and it took me a week to get over it.

Now this is very interesting. I have had a long-standing issue (since childhood, not that I was diagnosed then, but my family would all agree that I didn't tolerate these things) with buttons, ribbons and lace. Also zips when I was little, but they are ok now.

Like you, it doesn't hurt me to touch them as some people describe, but I just feel so disgusted around them they almost make me feel sick (those pearly buttons on old-person cardigans when they're loose and wobbly are the worst!). I can now make myself touch them if I have to but feel so revolted and have to shake my hands and tense and wiggle my fingers until the disgust goes away.

Before I was diagnosed some of my friends joked and said I had a phobia of those things, but like all those people on the internet, I'm not scared of them, they're just gross. Have often wondered whether this counts as a sensory issue or not.

<--- Hell, wants to puke when he sees people walking their dogs with a leash. Don't use a leash. If the dog stays with you it means they like you. If they haul ass, take that as a hint.

Leashes are mandatory in many places (unless you are in a designated off-leash area like a dog park), meaning that if you don't leash your dog you're breaking the law and if you get caught you'll be fined hundreds of dollars.

A dog who has a strong prey drive could be off like a shot in a second, racing into oncoming traffic after a squirrel or a cat or whatever else -- the fact that they "haul ass" doesn't mean that they don't like or love you, and their instincts could get them killed a human city. Or maybe you just don't want your dog to kill any of the neighbourhood cats.

Some dogs have problems with aggressive behavior (for example rescue dogs with horrible pasts), and it's much safer for them to be on a leash because it really only takes seconds for something terrible to happen -- the dog bites a kid that runs up and tries to pet them, for example; or the dog tries to start vicious, serious fights with other dogs. On a leash you can keep your dog close and react quickly to protect everyone.

Also, dogs run and play in ways that humans can't -- a dog might run off to explore beyond your sight lines, with every intention of coming back to you (on a smaller scale this happens all the time in big off-leash areas: your dog takes off to run and play, you lose sight of them for a while so you call them back and in a few moments they come running....it can happen on a larger scale, too, with dogs that like to roam but they go off so far you can't call them back). Doesn't mean they don't love you. Dogs may be pack animals but that doesn't mean that every dog will be content to stick to your side like glue for every second of every day just because they love you.

...Did/do they have " Do not remove under penalty of law " tags in the UK ? (Dating myself  ?)

ote="Joe90"]And no, it is not a sensory issue, it's just something that disgusts me, the same feeling you get when you see puke.

If I am eating and there's a clothing tag in sight, I feel sick and not want my food. I have to try to look the other way and forget about the tag in order to finish my food.

Urgh.

And it's not just tags on clothing, it can be tags on anything; cushions, sheets, robes, inside purses, etc.

Why do tags disgust me to look at so much? Does anyone else feel the same, or am I the only one?[/quote]

I also feel sick when I see a clothing tag, and I have sensory issues too but I don't know if that's relevant. Also, I can't stand hearing radios because the noise makes me feel sick.

<--- Wishes he didn't have severe dog issues.

<--- Went to the local park to use the public bathroom, saw four people letting their four dogs free roam in the park and hoped none of them broke loose and charged him.

<--- Thought, "Well, I can't outrun those dogs, but I might be able to jump on top of that van nearby, just in case."

jumping on vans sounds like it would require a lot of dexterity. :thumleft:

i had dog problems myself when i was younger. they're betting better but my GF has two enormous "dogs" and i am a bit apprehensive whenever i am at her place.
