On the extreme end:

Complete lack of a filter from brain to mouth
Oversharing or TMI

At the less severe end:

Overenthusiastic interest in a favorite subject
Misunderstanding what has been said
Lack of interest in the popular trend, if not feeling nauseated by certain aspects of pop culture altogether

In my case, I tend to become anxious if people request a specific answer and I can't come up with it. I also become quiet when I feel wisdom dictates I do so. This has been interpreted as "shutdown" when it really isn't at all.

Well duhhh... because theyre aspies. That's why.

Just about every distinctive trait that defines aspergers can cause an aspie come off as rude if the aspie isn't careful.

Lack of TOM, lack of a filter, excessive honesty/bluntness, not knowing social rules.

Can an Aspie learn TOM so it's not an issue?

I did. I learned lots after my 20's.

I was really pretty oblivious to "theory of mind" and the concept of "other people" (especially as regards complex emotions) until then.

In addition to what others posted, sometimes we come across as rude because we are actually being rude.

Yeah me too. I was very black and white about things. It was like learning to see in colour.

I can't think of any specific examples.
