The only person on the Autism Spectrum other than me in my family is my mom.I suspect that my little sister has it though.

An uncle has been diagnosed with it, though I suspect my grandfather and an aunt have it.

Mother- NT, but prone to anxiety, depression, and temper flare-ups; was a shy child and adolescent.

Father- NT, but somewhat socially awkward. Is a university lecturer in philosophy.

So I can see where I get my Aspie traits from.

Incidentally, my uncle seems quite Aspergerish to me, but he was adopted, so this has nothing to do with my genes.

Isn't your brother ADHD, too? Having met him, he does seem a bit hyper.

I have a cousin twice removed on my father's side of the family with AS, Also I suspect my mother could be somewhere on the Autistic spectrum or least show some signs. My mother's brother (my uncle) is kind of weird too.

My family (especially my mother's side) was a DSM shmorgasboard. My dad was VERY AS (undx), my mother is DID (dx) (environmental disorder more than genetic), has anxiety problems (dx), depression problems (dx), attention-deficit problems (undx), and PTSD (dx), her mother had Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (dx), and was likely also Bipolar, my mother's father had Organic Brain Disorder (dx-- blunt head trauma during WWII), but he was pretty Schizoid, too, and had some Aspie qualities even before his head injury. In addition, my dad's half-brother has a bit of Aspieness about him, but I don't think he has the full blown disorder. Just some traits.

And these are only the ones I know about. My whole family is just nuts, lol.

I have a older brother to me he is about 20 years old. He is either ADHD or Asperger or both or i don't know what but hes definetly not a NT. And his son is dignosed Asperger he more Asperger than I was at his age. But he probably will never end up as bad as I have now.

My older sister who is older than me by 23 years has a ADD son and a ADHD daughter. Damn that ADHD girl can bounce and she talks at a million miles per hour.

I always hear storys of Autistic uncle marty. I have hear 2 storys about Uncle marty and apparently he was really bright at school and didn't become as Austistic as he was when he was a adult until after he left school. Hes now dead.

My mother is bi-polar and im not trying to offend bi-polar people but my mom is differen't she doesn't want help for it. So all I can describe her as is NUTS. My mom is crackers. Every ones afraid of her. You say some thing that she doesn't like and she will burst into tears and start chucking things like pots pans pottery and some times even knifes. Luckly she has bad aim.

My father is certainly not NT.

Mom is a space cadet.

Brother is an A**hole NT dork.

My mothers brother is probably somewhere in the Autistic spectrum.... Space cadet, Single, never married, starving artist, just does his own thing.
And we are both dodging going to Florida for a family Thanksgiving. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :D

The best holidays I've ever had are the ones I've spent alone.

I know one of my cousins has autism and a little mental retardation, but other than that I don't know anyone else in my family with autism.

In answer to the title of this thread, then no. Quite simply because my immediate family are NT (unless I hear any different), i've never noticed any aspie traits in anyone in my family. Having said that I like my family for who they are and they like me for who I am, so:

Mum = NT
Me= Aspie
Oldest sister = NT
Youngest sister = NT
Oldest brother = NT
Youngest brother = NT

They do know who to call if their computer breaks :wink: :D

I think my dad and his brother have ASD,certain they would both get a diagnosis if they knew about it and tried to.
Originally assumed my autism came from brain damage I had,but quite recently my uncle came over (from Tipperary-Ireland) and I realised how he fitted ASD,a lot of other relatives call him strange, and gay as well, because he's never had a relationship.
Wonder should I even mention this to my dad/that both of them might have a reason for being the way they are? :?:

I think many of my family are, now my son has been diagnosed but nobody has been diagnosed except my son. That's why it's such a knotty question for me knowing what to tell them all.

Me - I don't think so.
My husband - a keen trainspotter, obsessed with transport and cameras, but apart from that very sociable.
My Mum - cannot empathise with people. Cannot see anyone's point of view but her own.
My Dad - seems like classic AS to me, he is an engineer, 100 per cent obsessed with his work.
My sister - shows traits, I think. Not sociable. Hardly any friends, has very logical black and white thinking.
My husband's family - no, no other traits but then my father in law died before I met him so don't know about him.

My Dad has two brothers. They are all very driven and ambitious men, all very hardworking, very cynical. They all had daughters, there are 7 of us girl cousins and no boys. My only cousin with children has three little girls. I hoped and prayed I could break the line of girls in my family and have a boy. I did, and he has Asperger's. He is so much like my Dad in character it's not true, it's like Dad's genes elbowed everyone else's out of the way and took over!! :lol:
