Superior intelligence is so overrated
So it's not what you have, it's how you use it that matters.
I agree totally, its how you use the intelligence that you do have that makes a difference

I agree with that also. The idea that intelligence is only to get laid, or employed is kind of silly. After all, people are employed to solve problems. Just think! If everyone were STUPID, everyone would be employed! WHY!?!?!? Need food cooked? You NEED to go to get fast food! Need to get dressed? OH WELL, you need HELP! Need to screw in a light bulb? BETTER HIRE someone! And what about FIRE ALARMS!?!?!? Let me tell you about the two fire alarms I had to replace batterys in today(I have about 6, and they go bad every couple years, and COMPLAIN!). Here is what I had to do:
1. Track the alarm by following the intermittent beep.
2. Figure up how to reach the alarms that are about 9+ feet up. NOTE, the whole IDEA of this is STUPID! Why don't they have a main area with battery backup power? Replace one battery EASILY for the whole home, rather than a whole bunch with DIFFICULTY!?!? Obviously, the guy that did this was an IDIOT, but he creates the potential for more work. Someone may even fall, and need surgery, etc.... But what do you expect!?!? Such an idea probably wouldn't even be considered by a guy with an IQ below 100. They ALREADY require a special connector. Just add to connections, connect them in parallel, run it down to a box for a battery, perhaps a nice BIG 12 volt battery, and VIOLA! HECK, you could have it trickle charged by the house current. IMAGINE! EASILY changing a battery in ONE HOME that is powerful enough to backup perhaps the whole TOWN.(Yeah, I know. Keep everything short, but you get the idea. a 12v car battery that is trickle charged is FAR more powerful and reliable that a 9v transistor battery.) Oh well, TOO CHEAP! TOO EASY! OH WELL!
3. Go up, and remove the detector. Remember, they were designed by IDIOTS, so MORE WORK!
4. Disconnect the detector, because the battery case can't open otherwise. IDIOTS!
5. Replace the battery.
6. Reconnect the detector.
7. Reinstall the detector.
How is THAT for just replacing a battery!?!?!? CRAZY, HUH!?
And if my computers break, I have various problems, etc.... I solve them MYSELF! One person JUST TODAY told me of how he got a quote of $250 for a SIMPLE solder job! He is HAPPY to pay a friend $100 to do it. I would do it myself.
Intelligence doesn't get laid,
Agreed.
Because getting laid is a social skill.
The above statement probably sounds arrogant but it isn’t really. I often feel inferior to less intelligent people who seem to cope better in life and are more caring than I'm able to be.
Intelligence can be used to make a living if you have a lot of creativity and a basic understanding of current and historical economic patterns. I will use my intelligence to get into med school and from that, wisely use the money I have in order to make it multiply. In 2 years, I will be a registered nurse with my bachelor's degree and have wonderful low-cost business ideas that could potentially make hundreds of thousands per year. This idea is based on a service that will always be a necessity (not necessarily relating to medicine). I am neglecting to go into detail lest these ideas be stolen.
I wish I learned that earlier in life.
What you really needed to learn earlier in life is how to use it to get you laid, friends, a job, and happiness.

Intelligence is in fact, the most versatile of all tools, as it can be used to obtain and create more tools. If you don't intuitively know how to act in a certain social situation, you can intellectually figure it out. Of course, it might make you seem like a robot, but still!

He should go into scientific research.
You have to LEARN how to be happy, it requires great wisdom.
Indeed.
A more balanced and centered lifestyle, meditation, and direct experience are great ways to seek wisdom.
Although it's not really something you can seek in a sense, to "know" is "knowing". And to get there you will have to do this without realizing it

On the comment made about the possible existance of dumb and unhappy...ignorance is bliss. I'm just being fecitious.
I've had many moments where I questioned the validity of intelligence. The problem isn't the intelligence as much as people lie. They lie to you growing up making it sound like it's so important to get those good grades and learn so you can grow up and be intelligent as if you won't be successful if you are not. Same with creativity, except they place limitations on trying to get you to look at an infinite concept. Either way, it is not a prerequisite to anything.
Like someone said earlier, it is a tool. If you let your hammer sit in the garage collecting dust all the time, then it would be useless. But if you use it daily, then it's not. I'm sure you have used your intelligence on a regular basis to find that it is a useful tool. However, you could own a hammer and know how to use it, but it wouldn't be useful for work in accounting (well, it could be creatively, but only on those moments you want to bash the computer in because it stopped working and deadlines are approaching). However, a job in carpentry would allow one to use his hammer productively. So you gotta kinda match up what your tool is and how you are using it. If you were flipping burgers, then a high intelligence might be a little more useless for job purposes than if you were in scientific research.
I can't say intelligence won't get you laid because I'm a chic whose always been attracted to intelligent men and marines, oorah. I do know a lot of girls who can't stand dating stupid dudes. So actually, it could get you laid someday.
As far as success, intelligence will take you there. Intelligence as I often use the term (I don't know the exact definition nor do I care as it's never used the same regarding technicalities in real world) isn't just about knowledge or the ability to perform math or memorize the definitions of words (the things they measure in the IQ for instance). In my definition, it requires a lot of critical thinking skills, to include considering and improving the approach to things and the method. I know it's a crazy person to quote, but if you ever watched or even heard of Ducktales, Scrooge always said, "Work smarter, not harder." So it's not just about being smarter, but also working smarter.
Another thing to consider is how you define success. If success is money, then your methods and needs are going to be different than if you think success is happiness....
Which takes me to the happiness thing. Intelligence has nothing to do with happiness, except for the fact that ignorance is bliss, but bliss isn't true happiness, and I don't really mean to consider that concept for real as much as in jest. Happiness is a state of mind. I always tell my friend's kids that if they can't be happy with the toys they got, then having all the toys in the world isn't going to make them happy either. The whole concept is being happy versus getting happy. Either you are happy or you're not. If you're not happy, then the problem isn't what you need to get or need to get rid of as much as the way you view the world. It's an attitude. What helps to find that attitude is the intelligence and wisdom and discipline to clean youself of envy, helplessness, jealousy, greed, and other negative sides of self and to also stop taking things for granted. Often, we get so consumed about desiring the grass on the other side of the fence that we don't notice the flowers growing in the grass on this side of the fence. Who knows, maybe the grass on your side of the fence is sitting on top a diamond mine, but you'll never know until you appreciate your own grass enough to get to know it. Also on the grass analogy, the grass is greenest wherever it is most nurtured. So if the grass is greener over there because you got mud, then you could move to the other side of the fence and kill that grass too, or you could just plant new grass and do what you got to do to make it grow green and healthy.
All Right. Enough fortune cookie talk for one night.
My view is that Im not perticularly smart. Its just that most people are perticularly stupid because they have no desire to learn. As a result, I kind of alienate myself from most people because their stupidity and ignorance makes me angry too often. I have problems with anger management so I decided long ago that the best solution was to remove myself from the situation. Also, people often times make things up and state it as fact, its hard not to argue when I hear stuff like that, but I dont because I dont feel like arguing, again leading to not wanting to get angry/irritable. Ive always been under the impression that 99% of people have the same potential for inteligence, but most people spend their time learning about things that wont make people think of you as smart. I mean, think about people who play World of Warcraft. That game has tons of content. People who play that game regularly fill their heads with all sorts of knowledge about classes, races, quests, areas, spells, skills, talents, etc... tons of stuff. If they spent the same amount of time learning math, science and so forth, theyd easily be considered smart. They just dont because they dont want to. Same can be said for people who spend all their time doing recreational activities like skateboarding and such. Its all a matter of how they spend their time. Just my 2 cents though

Way over the rate topic
Having never been intellectually superior, I would not know.
I suppose any over (or under) developed ability would be a significant challenge.

I have to agree and disagree. it depends on how intelligent the person is. There is a limit beyond which genuine communication between different levels of intelligence becomes impossible.
Here is a quote from an article I particularly enjoyed. www .prometheus society.org/articles/Outsiders.html
It's a wonderful article, enjoy.
