do you get overly excited about seemingly small things?

Oh yes, I get excited by the little things all the time.

Seeing flowers rise up in the spring
Watching Praying Mantii pray
Watching the birds fly
Seeing the snow fall
Getting a job promotion
Getting married
Generously donating half of my assets in the divorce proceedings
Choosing my burial plot and gravestone.

wow, that started out fun and ended up kind of a bummer. somewhat of a buzzkill...

no it's not, because i have PUSSYWILLOWS and BUBBLES! hah. so there.

But, you misunderstand. Donating my wealth to other people is what the Bible instructs me to do. So, being blessed by god, giving half my wealth to the person I loved the most is pretty exciting. (Though, yes, as you might suspect... exciting in a different way. )

And, choosing my gravestone and burial plot is pretty exciting, you know? Choosing the biggest, most-desirable plot right in the middle of the sanctuary and making the gravestone ridiculously large and constructing it out of the finest gold-veined Venetian marble gives me a sense of superiority that brings me a small joy like no other.

So, don't underestimate the excitement in the little things in life. :P

nope, i still detect sarcasm. did you donate half of your belongings freely, or were you ordered by the courts?

I haven't handed anything over, yet... but, I would donate them freely and the courts would just help me in deciding which half to hand over.

I always remember the scene from 'American Beauty' with the plastic bag twirling in the wind eddy. And the strange neighbour dude who can observe the silence between the noise and takes the heroine away from it all.

There is beauty living parallel alongside our lives, but NT's are so busy preening for the popularity contest, that much of the beauty in the world outside their realm of attention (consciousness) goes unnoticed

Aint we the ones that are supposed to be too wrapped up in ourselves??

Sheesh........... I'm starting to see a pattern emerging with some aspects of AS diagnosis and its getting uglier and uglier.

mmmmhmmm as i suspected.

i would say that gold-veined Venetian marble is indeed exciting, but i would not want to save it for when i am dead.

yes, i see what you mean. i always knew that aspies have special interests and find those particular things fascinating, but i didn't know if there were other people who get all excited and distracted and amused and enthused by "small things". i am so glad i asked.

i'm not gonna lie - bad experiences and negativity permeate a great deal of my life, and i am not so naive that i think that rainbows and sparkly things will cure world hunger or create world peace... BUT the world is also full of beautiful, wonderful, fascinating things if we allow ourselves to pay attention.

i need to learn to tone it down a little in real life i guess (though if i haven't managed by now there is probably slim hope of that), but at least i know that other people on here share a similar perspective!

I felt miserably when I saw 4 pages building up against my slow reading capabality BUT thanks to Bobo and his respectful master leviathans I'm relieved now! :D - That's one.

Playing with puddles, I've totally forgotten this, I used to do it too in my childhood, and not exactly scarcely. Sometimes I was just watching the oil marks slowly flowing on different paths on the surface of the water, assuming magnificent colours and shapes.

Cute animals, plushies, drawings or pictures of them are always pleasure to my eyes. In fact, when I see an irregular, non-figurative pattern, like some carpets or wall-carpets have on them, I see figures of cartoonish caricatures instead of random patterns... I rest my sight on them for quite long. I used to think of it as some kind of childish madness that remained in me somehow. Now I'm more tolerant with myself, thanks to discovering AS.

I like dogs, cats, hares, hamsters (I had several when I was a kid too), and a bunch of other animals. Here's little orphaned Vuk, one of my favourite characters from my childhood, his creator is Dargay Attila.

Sometimes natural scenes make me feel so relaxed and happy. When I cycle on certain places I like very much, I feel even excited, like I did last weekend in the Bükk-montains.

Not exactly excited, but a very pleasant and almost loving feeling when I look at the large pile of my audio equipments (R2R tape recorders, amplifiers, turntables, tape decks, tuners etc.), many of them are under the protection of my affection, as if they were an important part of my life...
