Other: It varies a great deal for me.

I don't allow myself to lie in bed tossing, turning and clock watching. I only go to bed, when there is a good chance of sleep. If I know it isn't going to work, I'll get back up and distract myself with something for an hour or so, then try again.

Saying that I didn't really get to sleep properly last night, I have an audio-book on a 45 minute sleep timer and I'm sure I had to wake it 3 times last night. That was after going to bed at 2am to begin with. So off to sleep at 4amish, then I got up at 7am to wake the house.

I know I can manage skipping a nights sleep, so I don't allow it to stress me too much. I get 5-6 hours a night and that is enough for me.

What's more important is that I have at least 1 hour of quiet time to myself after everyone else has gone to bed.

I also need time to myself before I can sleep. I remember when sleeping at friends house I would always stay up an hour later than everyone

I'd say it takes me about an hour to get truly to sleep. I have to have an idea or daydream that can keep my mind occupied without causing anxiety, in order to let me drift off. I spend a lot of time in a half-awake state, both before and after sleep, just semi-thinking, semi-dreaming about whatever's on my mind. If I can't manage to do this, I will have terrible insomnia and have to rely on meds to sleep.
